the nba season is 82 games teams are all part of the rollercoaster.

i see people saying its a down part of the season.

this could very well be the case. but i contest with this. championship teams have always had an identity and tempo in which they imposed on opposing teams.

i've noticed increasingly we allow other teams to impose their will on us. not to mention we couldn't win on the road if we were playing some high school team on their turf.

what makes a champion

unselfish
road warriors
play defense and offense as though they both compliment one another
make good decisions and make the other team do the opposite
have players 1 through 15 know their role and play it to perfection
players 1 to 15 understand necessary sacrifice
coaches and players are not only on the same page but extensions of each other
stay healthy
and finally play as one. pieces of the same puzzle on both ends of the floor

right now looking at that and i emphasize right now. how many of you can say this team is a championship team

As I said in another thread, there's no reason to panic. This is a slump, and we'll get through it. Tonight's win over the Grizzlies is the start of our upward incline back to how we played early in the season (hopefully).

These fans who cry panic early in the season, are typically the same fans who are so happy and amazed at their respective team at the end of the season. I'm sick of coming onto this forum after a loss and reading all the doomsday threads and trade this, trade that, etc. Stop overreacting people. If this was March/April, then start panicking, but it's December, my God, have a little faith in the Lakers.

That is more of a description of a perfect team. We don't need to be perfect. With the talent on this team, we need 9-10 guys who know their role and play it well for the entire game (no slacking off!!!) on both sides of the court, then we'd be unstoppable.

I say it's a slump. I think I'll have a heart attack if the Lakers continue to play like this for the rest of the season. :omg:

People need to keep stuff in perspective. If we kept the current 22-5 record as a trend for the duration of the season we'd still be up for a 66-67 W record. If we kept the latest trend (7-3 in the last 10 games) we'd still be for a 57 W record. Guess what was our record last season?

There's a lot of stuff to fix before the playoffs, but the overreactions of some of the people on the boards are just mind boggling.

Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

Shouldn't be a trend. Not every team year in and year out is gonna be as dominant as last year's Celts or the 96 Bulls. We've seen our Lakers have a worse record than teams such as the Kings and win the title, or the Spurs just chill through the season only to win the title.

It's still early. We can't keep saying it's a slump if it continues forever, but lets see how we play in the Celts game and lets see what our break is at the ASG before panicking.

i believe it all comes down to bynum

last year which people dont remember it took him till january to get going

if he does the same this year and everyone stays healthy watch out

still a little worried about nasty habits but we played pretty good today

especially bynum who IMO was the MVP of the game for what he did defensively and some key rebounds

He got hurt in January lol. And nah, Kobe/Pau MVPs today. We definitely need beastly Bynum this year, and we'll be unstoppable.
