Most NBA fans are casual fans. Chances are, though, if you're reading the words on this screen right now you are not most NBA fans. And trust me, that's why all of us here at HOOPSWORLD love you!
We also happen to have a large number of Laker fans who visit the site. The reason? Well, the Lakers have the largest following of any team in the NBA.
I get e-mail from Laker fans from all over the world on a weekly basis, and I love your passion. With that said, understand I am delivering this message with your best interests at heart... chill out! Your team has only lost five freakin' games!
It's called a losing streak, every team will have one at some point this season... the Boston Celtics included.
It seems like every week fans are coming up with trade proposals, and not proposals that feature just a minor tweak here or there. Almost all of the proposals involve shipping out Lamar Odom, a player who just so happens to be a major piece of the Lakers' puzzle.
Did Odom play like garbage on Saturday in Orlando? Absolutely. But now is not the time to start jumping off the ship.
Again, I love your passion Laker fans, but if ain't broke there's no need to try and fix it. Try asking a fan in Memphis, Oklahoma City or even just up the road in Sacramento or Oakland if they wouldn't mind having the problem of agonizing over a team that has just five losses.
I know, I know. There's still doubt as to whether or not the Lakers can beat the Celtics if they happen to meet in The Finals again this June. Fair enough. But teams that are 21-5 shouldn't be pondering any sort of earth shattering moves.
You're in good shape Laker Nation.
Take a deep breath in... and now exhale.
