It's only 4-6 weeks. It's not like Bynum's injury. They know the recuperation time for this kind of surgery and Farmar will work his tail off. Better now than in April, right? No need to panic, but perhaps the thinking cap gets turned on a little quicker now for Mitch and Philip.

I completely disagree. Gilbert Arenas has had multiple lingering problems. This is Farmar's first knee injury of his career. I'll bet he's back closer to 4 weeks than 6 the way he works. Look, we got very lucky last year with minimal injuries to our guards. Let's feel fortunate it happened in December.

I wish I was as optimistic as you but we all know the last time someone was supposed to miss 4-6 weeks and how long did it take to return?

that was his first injury as well

Best case, hes back within the 4-6 weeks timeframe.

Worse case, he has a lingering knee problem the rest of the year.

Oh well. If it wasn't for bad luck...

4-6 weeks is best case if he has surgery. I say 2 months at least...

Knowing Lakers rehab team, he'll be out for the rest of the year.

This is a perfect chance to trade Odom for a PG.

Good point, but Bynum didn't get the surgery that he ultimately needed. Bynum had a history of injuries, and more importantly, is a big man with some disproportionate bone structure as the much maligned Gary Vitti pointed out. Whatever the time estimate is for Farmar post-op, I think he'll be back within that time frame. He's not an injury prone player.

Doc, of course I have and I knew exactly what you meant. Duh. I may be new to this forum, but you can quit playing politics with me and stop being so condescending at times. Just accept me as a solid contributor and we'll have some very productive discussions. I'm every bit as knowledgeable about the Lakers and the NBA as you are; you see things I might not see and I see things you might not see. So embrace it and enjoy it.

When you say "from your lips..." it sounds like you are so anxious to get rid of LO that you'll even take a pg for him. Fish is one of our leaders and plays big minutes. I think you underrate his value. You and I know we need toughness at the small forward position. We can survive without Farmar for how ever many weeks it takes for him to return and replace him with someone serviceable like possibly Ty Lue without pushing the panic button to rid ourselves of LO. IMO
