NEWSDAYKobe Bryant says he expects the Knicks to be major players in the 2010 free-agency sweepstakes. And one of the reasons for that is Mike D'Antoni.
"Obviously it's a huge market," Bryant said after the Lakers' entertaining 116-114 win over the Knicks on Tuesday night at Staples Center. "But players really love D'Antoni, love playing for him."
Bryant and D'Antoni have a relationship that goes back to when the Knicks coach, a former Italian League star, was Bryant's idol growing up in Italy while his father, Joe (Jellybean) Bryant, played in the country. Kobe and D'Antoni were together on the gold medal-winning Olympic team this summer in Beijing and, despite a few past playoff wars between the Lakers and Suns, the two have maintained strong mutual respect.
After Tuesday's game, Bryant came away impressed with the new-look Knicks under D'Antoni.
"They execute so well . . . they play at a great tempo and great pace," he said. "They're getting the system. It's coming."

true, but the questions were being asked in relation to the possibility of the Knicks being in the market for him in 2010. i'd expect him to opt out at the end of this season, anyway, whether he plans to stay or go, but i just found the subject kind of interesting.lol

C - Bosh
PF - Amare
SF - LeBron
SG - Kobe
PG - Nash
I knew the Knicks were up to something!
This is more possible than ever before, and here's how:
Curry gets traded to Miami for Marion, and the Knicks let his contract run out. Miami needs a center, so they do this.
Duhon takes the league minimum. Q-Rich leaves. Nate leaves. The Knicks trade Marbury to the Lakers for Odom, and they let Odom's contract run out.
The Knicks become the worst team in NBA history. Bosh and Amare decide to take a huge paycut and accept $8 million each, Kobe wants $10 million less, LeBron settles for $19 million, and Nash comes for the MLE.
I knew it.

Mr. Bryant is a mercenary. And what do mercenaries do? They kill... uh play for the highest bidder.
Ken most beloved called this guy out. He'll pretend to be a Laker fan, and spread poison like this about Kobe. He's a troll. I'm sorry he found this message board.

So far, I've extended a warm holiday greeting to you, Moos and Scott P.
You on the other hand have virtually accosted me, called me names and want to take away my First Amendment Rights. Who should be removed from our new message boards, Ken?
