A Quarter of the NBA season is gone what do you think is Lakers grade

Article

The Lakers shocked the basketball world last season when they acquired Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies en route to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2003-04. With center Andrew Bynum's return from a season ending knee injury last January, the Lakers got off to a blazing start in 2008-09 but have struggled recently, particularly on the defensive end of the floor. Clearly the best team in the West up to this point, Kobe Bryant and Co. will have to step up their play on the defensive end to repeat as Western Conference Champions. Grade: A-

A-

We did some great things in the beginning of the season, they slacked of a bit during the last 10 or so games.
There is plenty of time for improvement so I am not worried at this point. 21-3 deserves an A- in my book.

I would've given them an A- if it weren't for the last week or so.

A- for offense. D for defense. Overall = C+

I think it's insulting to the team to give them any grade with an A. That means they aren't far from being perfect, and that they have little room for improvement. I don't think this team is even close to being where they should be. Their record doesn't say the whole story because their play has been atrocious for the past several weeks. If their actual potential is an A+, I don't believe they are anywhere near it at this point.

We are 21-3 (9-1 against "elite" teams). The Pistons game exposed our weaknesses, but somehow we are 14-2 since then anyway. I agree with Daco that the defense has been awful since then and that aesthetically we expected to be watching a much different team, but somehow we are 21-3. As tough as it is to watch the team's play sometimes and as frustrating as it is to see close wins when they should be blowouts like the Cavs are doing, I still have to give the Lake Show an A- based strictly on our record and the fact that the players (especially Bynum and Gasol) are still getting used to playing with each other and with the new rotations.

B

Great offense.

But crappy defense and losses against the Pacers and the Queens is unacceptable.

On Dec 19th Lakers will be playing 25 Games. If the season was 100 games I would say it's a quarter, Unless your counting the playoffs. It's closer to a third for regular season. But of course only the playoffs matter.
