Speaking of Lakers practices, Jackson said he didn't sense the urgency and dedication at them that he felt while coaching the Chicago teams that won six championships in the 1990s.

"Those teams really liked to practice," he said. "They lusted to practice. That's kind of interesting that teams like to get out there and run and play. It's kind of a communication thing for them.

"This team is still learning how to do that the right way, that you have to go really hard on days that you don't want to go, just so you build the right spirit."

gosh man kobe needs to meet with his guys and talk to them

like real talk

the team got caught up in the moment thinking they can just win against sub 500 teams, NO you have to try every game like your in game 7 of the nba finals

if they want to win they better fix there act

especially farmar if he wants dereks spot he better start running the offense and pplay some damn D forget about the scoring that will come

Lakers need to worry about Defense if not then we are in trouble cause Offense don't win championships

They look like they don't want to win a championship out there. Kobe needs to be like how he was in the second half of the season last year.

Even if we matched, it wouldn't have been fair to Ronny and he wouldn't have been happy rotting on the bench. Josh Powell is every bit as good as him for a lot cheaper. I understand your point, but if he's the difference, this bunch should be ashamed of themselves. Wait a minute, aren't the Lakers 20-3? I think this talented bunch can wake up in plenty of time.

i doubt if he was still on the team he would be on the bench like powell. phil most likely would have found a spot for him to come and play at least 10 to 15 min a game. and im almost certain he is the answer to the bench becuz they just dont look the same since ronnie has left...the chemistry isnt what it was.. and the bench is the answer to almost all the problems this team has and we prolly would be 22-1 if the bench was performing as they should with the hustle and dedication. and ronnie was that guy if you needed hustle and dedication off the bench.

phil is right. all the young kids think they get a automatic finals return with bynum returning. they should know its hard work.

why isnt kobe and fish hammering it into all of them?

I see faith in your eyes

broken is the promise, betrayal

Kobe and Fish aren't hammering into them because they are playing lackadaisical and without and urgency or passion as well.
Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.

^ kobe and fish an dpau ar eplaying with passion...^you and many expect to much...this aint preseason...other teams want to win and our plyers individually put no fear in them b/c we only have one Superstar...same for Cavs and Hornets...until Bynum(he's close) and Gasol(he's closer) get true fear(not physical toughness, another type of intimidation{like Peja when he is hot}) then, we wont put that fear in teams and every night will be a battle
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

pau is considered a superstar and to say we dont put fear into other teams is wrong because almost everyone in the league knows we are the best

"Superstar"? He was an all-star once.
