Pau leading his national team to the Olympic finals and being the leading scorer of those Olympics? I also hear he's the most popular Euro player in Europe? He's got this easily.

I´m not so sure. Pau was the MVP of last World Cup and the winner of the award that year was Papaloukas.

The thing is that in this award we´re the ones who decide the winner, and Nowitzki and Kirirenko are going to have a lot of votes thanks to Germany and Russia big population. Same goes for Luol Deng; since he´s british, he´ll be possibily the most voted player in USA.

And Pau has the handicap Rudy is in the list too, so he´ll lose spanish votes which are going to Rudy.

This is like the nominations for All-Star; population of the player countries is a very important tool for win this.

That's because Papaloukas also won the Euroleague and the domestic league that year. He deserved it.

I don't think Americans play favorites with Brits. Pau is the best Euro player in the NBA. He'll get his votes from here.

You may want to spread this in other Laker forums, if you haven't done so yet.

Gasol has been the most outstanding European player of 2008. From the silver finish in the Olympics and Finals, to his great play so far this season and last, there's no doubt he'll win it. No one on that list really strikes me as having a chance to win the award.

Same here, he was phenomenal all the way up to the very last minutes of the Gold game. Think about how close that game was and if it wasn't for Kobe's clutch play - best in the world - USA may have gotten the Silver.

This just furthermore proves that we HAVE to win the title. We have the best player in the world, and also the best European player around, nothing short of a championship is needed.
