IGN recently did a feature on the top 10 NBA players in the NBA. Kobe ranked #4:

Kobe Bryant: Make no mistake about it, although Kobe Bryant's statistics aren't quite as impressive this season as they have been in recent years, he's still a no-brainer as one of the top five players in the world. The fact is that Bryant hasn't had to shoulder as much of the load in Los Angeles after the arrival of Pau Gasol, and even though is personal stats have dropped off slightly, the Lakers are off to an 18-3 start (the best record in the Western Conference and the third-best record in the league) and Bryant has continued to put up very impressive individual numbers despite playing significantly fewer minutes. Bryant is averaging 24.5 points (6th), 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on the year. Bryant currently has a 97 overall rating in NBA Live 09 and a 99 overall in NBA 2K9.

lol there a video game site.. they listed dwight howard above the reigning MVP which is ridiculous, and the "boston 3 party" is not even a player.. so all though kobe is actually playing like a second, maybe 3rd all nba team member right now.. dont pay much attention to a IGN sports article lol

I'd put him third.

1) LeBron
2) Dwight Howard
3) Kobe
4) D-Wade

Let's see
D. Wade is dominating with a horrible team
L. James is dominating with a decent team
Howard is playing the most dominating big man basketball
I can see why Kobe is 4th. IGN does Video games, sports, movies all kinds of crap.
Kobe isn't having a great season by his standards. Matter of fact, they could have put P. Pierce above Kobe

i think it's great the Kobe does not have to shoulder too much for the team to win. it is a team game after all. they win and lose as a team.

Dwight is leading the league in rebounds and blocks per game and is an automatic double double, Lebron is the best player in the game right now and without Paul no way West would of been an all star last season nor would Tyson Chandler have so many easy baskets. Kobe at 4th is appropriate.

Don't you have to put Wade ahead of Kobe at this point?

I would actually put Wade over James. Lebron still plays minimum defense and his great dunks are usually on break aways. Wade plays better defense and constantly dunks on the other teams big guys. There is also no way Miami should have as decent a record as they do. They have no big man whatsover.

And if I need a bucket at the end of the game, he's the guy I want with the ball.

Naw dude, Independent films are those black and white hippy movies. They’re always about gay cowboys eating pudding.

DECENT? dude there like 20-3, won 10 stright i undestand kobe being 4th, right now. Kobe will pick up the slack in March (averaged 40 ppg in 06, 4 stright 50+ games in March of 07, scored NBA and season high 53 against Mavs in March of 08)

The talent is decent. They are playing well as a team and James is having a good season. Along with the competition they have been put up against isn't that great. The East has 3 good teams not counting a crappy heat team with Wade making them much better than they really are. Cleveland's talent is average at best. Their superstar is just better than the other teams superstar(with the exception of Boston who has the MV3)

The lakers and Celtics have the best all around basketball talent.

No.

I think 4th is a good spot for Kobe right now, but then I saw IGN's list and it's retarded. Boston 3 Party at 1? Dumb.

I thought it would be Lebron-Wade-Paul-Kobe. Lebron is 1. Wade 2 right now (could even be 1 but not to me). Next 3 is debatable to me, Kobe/Paul/Dwight, could go whichever way. That's top 5.

Put the Vic Jacobs Koolaid back in the refrigerator. He wasn't the best player in the finals last year. He wasn't the best player in the olympics and he's not the best player now.

He's the best player in the world

definitely, but his shot selection and defense have been average the past few games. Kobe's had bad stretches of games last season, he'll bounce back without question

it reminds me of how MJ used to start after his teams got better, but Kobe will get that fire to dominate a few games, but he is leading even better than last year.

Last point is KObe doesnt dominate the ball like Lebron, wade, and most certainly paul does
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers
