The offense sucks right now. Batting Aybar 5th gots to stop. Glad Oakland is going all in. All the pressure is on them now. Not to mention a huge target.

Had a feeling. Hope it isn't too serious.

The Angels barely squeeze out a win against the Orioles tonight. The one thing the Angels can not do right now is to have a good balance between offense and pitching.

Is either they score a lot of runs but give up a lot of runs or they have a strong pitching performance, but don't score a lot of runs.

They need to find the balance in scoring a lot of runs while not allowing a lot of runs early in the ballgame. So far, they are bad at that.

The one consistent thing they have done well is the bullpen. The bullpen has come a long way since the start of the season. Unfortunately, now the starting pitching is shaky (not today though).

The Angels finished July with a 19-8 record which was best in the league. Now, the real test begins for the Angels. They will play 31 road games in the last two months of the season. These road games will determine whether or not they will able to win the division or just get a wild card spot.

the season relies on timely hitting. All the games are close they just need those hits or walks with RISP. The strikeouts are out of hand.

Another strong performance from Shoemaker and the bullpen. The only thing I worry about is that Scioscia might over work the bullpen but I can't blame him because the starters are just not consistent enough to pitch high quality innings.

Also, the Angels are one game back behind the Athletics. I hope they can overtake them!

I agree. Man, I am still wondering on why they signed Hamilton with that huge contract? They already signed Pujols the year before but they also signed Josh Hamilton too.

They could have used most that money to other starting pitchers.

Also, even with that slump, if the A's lose today against the Royals, the Angels would only be 2 games back (A's has played two more games than the Angels). So, the Angels could still win the AL West.

However, the Angels will have a HUGE 10 game road trip @TEX, @BOS, and @OAK. So, it will be interesting to see how they will play in this road trip.

I can't believe how Hamilton fell so fast. Guy doesn't even seem to care anymore. Hamilton is the new Vernon.

Hamilton is that bad? He looked a lot better than expected against the dodgers in that recent series. It looks like he can still crush a few.

But honestly, my uncle has been saying this for time now. Josh Hamilton isn't the type of baseball players to age well because of how long his swing is. He relies on his extremely quick hands back when he was in his prime. Several injuries and his late 30s, it seems my uncle's omen came true. Said the samething about trout lol

He seem right about Hamilton. As for trout that remains to be seen. His swing is compact and quick threw the ball. Look at the massive HR's he's produced with that swing. His K rate is a little scary but he almost never swings at the first pitch. That's part of his problem.

I agree about Trout's K rate. The problem with him is that he gets super aggressive when he is down 0-2.

By the way, the Angels are only 1 game back of the A's and they are tied in the loss column. It was just a week ago that the Angels were four games behind the A's in the standings.

Always behind in counts doesn't help, an adjustment will be made. I have no doubt. We need the head to head games vs Oakland.

It is the first time in a while that the Angels loss because of the bullpen. At least they still won 2 of 3 against Texas. Also, even if Oakland wins tonight, the Angels are still 1 game back from the standings.

The real key is to maintain that 1 game back going into the A's weekend series. If the Angels are only 1 game back behind the A's going into the weekend, then they would be in a great shape to take back the lead going into the home stand.

Great game tonight from the Angels tonight! With Richards and Bucholz pitching tomorrow, the Angels should able to win tomorrow night.
