The Dodgers are emerging as the early favorite to land right-hander Zack Greinke, the best pitcher on the free agent market, executives with knowledge of the talks said today.
There are hints the Dodgers, baseball's newest big spenders, may be ready to blow the field away. One was the revelation that came Tuesday afternoon, when Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reported that the Angels, who had Greinke as their main target, rather abruptly slid out of the Greinke derby, with a well-placed source telling Knobler that the Angels were now "unlikely to sign him.''

I still want greinke. I understand if we lose out, but we need pitching either way. I'd be fine with signing a few lower tier guys and upgrading at 3B, bench and pen.

What a bummer... Angels PA announcer, David Courtney, reportedly died. He also was the PA announcer for the Kings and Clippers. Going to be so strange hearing a difference voice at Angel games now. RIP big guy.

Solid trade. As long as we don't get the Hanson from 2012 we got the better end of the trade. The fact Dipoto was so quick to pull the trigger on Walden makes me think he's making ground on this Japanese pitcher and/or another reliever.
