There is a thread on this in Lakers Talk. I hate this. I just hate 710 Radio.

Now that they have The Lakers you will love them

WOW. I heard this on my drive home last night. I guess those falling ratings at KLAC and the annoying mascot finally took its toll on reason and good business sense. VTB was a short term gimmick that wore out his welcome a long time ago. How can the station have any credibility by peddling the antics of Vic the Shtick and try to disguise it as journalism? The guy shows up at press conferences in his clown suits and asks juvenile questions that are a complete and total embarrassment to KLAC. This is supposed to be the anchor station for the Lakers and they allow Vic to be their front man? I think even the "Big 3" American auto manufacturers would have though better of that foolish decision. If Don Martin didn't mind being associated with the village idiot, it is apparent that the Laker organization has finally tired of his act.

Long & Denholm(Kermit)were soooo happy with themselves last night.
Just swinging their johnsons about how they have 'the Trojans, the World Series, the NFL and now the Lakers'.
I wanna know when they're going to bring in a broadcaster with talent?

Major changes are coming to KLAC...no doubt. The one schtick pony/mascot is gone. MT half a's the LC's show anyway...he's gone.
Money lives and dies Lakers, but he's valuable, and I'm guessing under contract.
P hates the Lakers, and is resentful they cut into his show time.

I don't know...should be interesting.
Naw dude, Independent films are those black and white hippy movies. They’re always about gay cowboys eating pudding.

so let me get this straight. 570 will have DP, Rome, most likely pms and hartman with no MT and HOPEFULLY no village idiot, so a new LC cast. that's not so bad if you're only switchin to 710 for game time. If the change puts vtb out of a job and i can listen to a hartman show without that pathetic bumbling clown, what will be so bad about KLAC?

Haha 570 :hysterical2:
The writing has been on the wall. The ratings were steadily declining. 570 got worked in the arbitron ratings last time by 710. So I'm assuming this means big changes are ahead for the station. To change nothing would seem kind of idiotic. Is Don Martin gone? MT is gone if he is still doing radio analysis. He only contributed half the time anyway, so that's not a huge change. But what happens to Vic? Fired? Demoted? Is something actually done about that clown?
I can only hope something major is done with the Cannons. Bring in someone new with Hartman. I would really like to start listening to the show again. But will not with Vic there.

a friend of mine talked to money yesterday. he said money told him he'll be staying at 570 and that PMS is his first priority.

music to my ears. i NEED my pms. daily.

now it's just a matter of how long the station can stay afloat.

there's just so much history with the radio call on KLAC (and it's previous incarnations). Still, to this day, the radio call on KLAC is one of the purest out there. I'd take it over Joely every night. Sure, ESPN is keeping Mychal and Spero, but you know the broadcast is going to change once those sterile a-holes take it over.

i'm mainly worried about the future of local programming on the station. PMS has found its way into my life as a mainstay of auditory assuage. i've podcasted every PMS since mid-summer 07... i always think "damn, what would i do without these guys to keep me sane while i'm sitting in traffic."

i'm just scurred.

570 had a new d.j. right there in their lap that would have shot some new life into the programming, but....
