The problem is the bench mob relax when they come in and increase the lead by 14 or more. They take a breath, relax, get a bit sloppy, and the other team goes on a 10 or 12-0 run. This is not a serious problem. It is easily corrected, as it is mental and not physical. Phil needs to use a timeout or keep to the normal rotation as a work around until they "get it"

In other words, play down to their opponents level. Even the starters are notorious for that.Posted on another thread but more fitting here........

Okay, and I think this is a serious problem this has been a lasting problem for 2 years now. Even the older lakers teams with Kwame "lol" Brown blew leads when they were up big.Well, we can't get the big leads by playing down, we are only talking about the 4th quarter after getting up by 19 or 20.

And there have been many other times this season where we have a ten point lead in the second half, and we let the other team back in.

Better than giving up a 12-0 run WITHOUT the 20 point lead! {:^)

To quote "The Who", The Kids are(will be) allright!

I had the same mindset as you, until what happened in the finals.
We all know what the feeling felt like when we let it slip away from us.
I get that feeling every time the Lakers blow a lead this year.

I haven't felt this good about the Lakers since the first year of the threepeat.
We won't hit our stride til January(oops, I mean Dec 25th!), Our starters are still getting used to one another.

exactly i dont see why phil is doing it this early in the season..the starters should start the fourth imo and establish the momentum again and about the 8 to 6 min mark he should put in the bench...i guess he is trying to develop the bench but playing the bench at the start of the 4th is something you do later in the season when you want to rest your starters for playoff time.Doesn't help when PJ is confident and put in the bench to start off the quarter. He should let the starters start the 4th and let the scrubs finish off the seoncd half.

Really quiet in the locker room.
Phil was planning on giving them a day off tomorrow before they play the Bucks on Sunday
That ain't gonna happen anymore. They got practice tomorrow.
Phil is a mastermind when it comes to readjusting a fixing problems from previous games.
It's just having thse 4th quarter breakdowns is getting real old and tired.
FIX IT PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
