I'm sorry, but Lakerfool, you would do much better for yourself if you just watched the game and not commented on a message board, you are one of the biggest instigators I have ever seen, your posts inspire most, if not all people to take a step back and say, "what the [expletive] is he talking about", and regardless of if I get banned for saying that, at least I spoke the truth.

Daco, you are an intelligent poster and I like the discussions you bring to the board. All I would say in response is that I think longevity depends on the player and training staff largely, but you can't deny that college ball back then was a lot better. I think that you do ultimately have a problem with Kobe, and you can't stand it when other people make the case for him.

It's an extremely easy cop out to attack somebody when they are unable to dissect their argument. You're angry because you have no counter-argument, so you lash out attacking me, instead of my post. It's a cowardly way out, but if that's how you choose to make an argument, by all means go for it. You just come out losing the argument.

Would you have traded Wilt, Kareem, or Magic? No way.

I think Lebron's a good player but he wont win you a championship. Its all about the supporting cast. Kobe couldnt win it without any help, and Lebron cant win it with what he has now either. Kobe will be great for many years to come, and I would love to see him retire here even if we dont win another with him.

^ agreed, loyalty means a lot, and cavs would rather trade durant or roy for lebron over Kobe
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

wait somone said Lebron is miles ahead of Kobe at that age. People have short memories. kobe at 25 was the best player on the planet, it was his 7th or 8th in the league, and had made killer shots throughout the playoffs.
I am going to agree with everyone who cites Kobe's work ethic, fundemental play, and killer instinct of Lebron's great skill set.

Well, let's check the stats.

They both came out of high school. Last year was Lebron's 5th year in the league, let's compare to Kobe's 5th (00-01).

Both played the same mpg.
Kobe shot 46%, Lebron 48%.
Wtf.... this surprised me. Kobe made .9 threes a game at 30.5%... Lebron made 1.5 at 31.5%. Wtf?
Lebron gets more FTs, but Kobe made the same amount (so better % for Kobe by far.)
rpg/ast: Kobe was 6/5...Lebron 8/7.
Equal in steals, Lebron more blocks.
Same in TOs. Lebron a bit more points.

So basically Lebron was better in every way cept FTs. Minus the title of course.

I'm not gonna talk about intangibles or killer instinct, just facts/stats I can prove. Not gonna say he was miiiiiles ahead of Kobe, but he sure as hell is ahead. Playoffs, Kobe I'd say was more clutch overall... but remember Lebron already got to the Finals basically by himself, and had some heroics along the way (Pistons anyone?)

Lebron's stats this year through 15 games are even better than Kobe's 6th year through 80 games, so no use comparing.

I used to be scared too, thinking Lebron could come along and break all the "youngest to" records Kobe owns... but no use denying it. Unless he suddenly leaves bball to become a trillionaire, or gets a freak accident.

Yes, it´s a no brainer. Kobe is one of the greatest players ever, but he can´t last many more years at his level, he is getting older, this is irremediable. Lebron would dominate the league playing along with Bynum and our young Lakers team.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

ReaListik, watch the personal attacks, bro. We don't need that, at all.

Guys, don't compare the two at a certain age. LeBron is asked to be the primary option, while Kobe first deferred to Shaq, and then shared his scoring responsibilities with him.

Simply put, LeBron is only getting better, and I don't see Kobe doing that in two years. I would LOVE to keep Kobe and add LeBron, in any way, shape or form (I would deal ANYONE off this Lakers roster just to see those two playing together), but if it does mean Kobe goes, so be it.

killer instincts are a part of the game, its why i would take horry in his prime over a guy like gerald wallace or Artest even any day.
it s why MJ was MJ, not his skill level, he was an assassin more so than Nique or the Glide (some of you don't know who I'm talking about)

Say the Cavailers say to you, " We want Bynum + Gasol for LeBron + expiring contract", what do you say?
