Kwame defends power lowpost players better, and shows better on the PnR. Gasol's a bit clumbsy when showing on PnR's, and often over shoots allowing guards that are looking to drive to get around him anyway. Gasol's has more length and better decision making, making him a better rebounder, weakside shot blocker, and more effective at recovering to big man shooters and having some impact with his length on the shots being taken.

Kwame is just a man...he's got one of the best built frames in the league. He's one of the strongest players in the league. He's got good reflexes and he's super mobile for a guy his size.
Pau makes up for his short-comings athletically by using basketball IQ and fundamentals. That makes him adequate but it doesn't lift him far beyond that.
That said, Pau will deliver when he has to, which is usually high pressure situations. Kwame is hit-or-miss...I'll take bynum and Pau...

Even though Duncan had a high avg vs Pau, he only shot 38%
Also KG only shot 38%.

The reason why Kwame was a number 1 pick was mainly because of his body. He has the body of a prime-aged Karl Malone, but the problem is he doesn't know how to use it offensively. This also explains why he's so good at defense. If you have a big body like Kwame, it doesn't take much to play defense. You just need to have quick feet and stay infront of whoever your guarding and that's exactly what Kwame does. Gasol doesn't have that much strength compared to Kwame, the only thing he has defensively is his length.

considering all of the dropped passes, missed dunks, missed layups, bad decisions that caused fastbreak oppurtunities
i would say pau gasol is better simply for the fact he wont give up easy points of of dead dumb decisions
