This is just awesome. Thanks to LakerEric@LG.net for pointing these stats out.

36-11 last year including post season

9-1 this year so far

45-12!!!

79% winning pct

That's unreal. We're on pace for 72-10. BUT... like the players have told us, one day at a time.

Gasol was the man in memphis and now is playing on a team where he can play second fiddle alonbg side the greatest player of this era of basketball

its like that one suns coach said about kobe a couple years ago

"if that guy had one player we would all be in trouble"

well kobe has about 8 players now and if healthy the whole season and postseason which has been difficult we will be trouble

Pau at times is our best 1st option against the smaller frontcourts and has been very consistent as the 2nd option.

I prefer Pau and his attitude and selflessness a long with versatility to Shaq's egotistic more power all the time style.

Watching the Lakers play in 04-07 really made me feel sorry for the players, but especially Kobe because during that struggling time, Shaq and Wade were on their way to a title in Miami. I was so damn frustrated and I can only imagine how frustrated and aggrivated Kobe was to see all that happen and he was dealing with Smush/Cook's awe-inspiring play. It really feels good to see this team rolling like it is, and it's great to see the character and collaboration that this team brings. You can tell they like playing together, you can tell they want to win, and you see a legitimate 2nd scoring option to Kobe, allowing Kobe to have similar freedoms that he had with Shaq.

This is a great time to be a Laker fan, and I believe that this season will be one to remember, even with the ups and downs.

If it continues to be 9 ups to 1 down, it certainly will be a season to remember.

What I don´t understand is this: Pau has been playing better than Bynum in ALL matches, and he has showed he´s better than Bynum. But for a lot of people Lakers are only Kobe and Bynum, and they don´t care Pau.

Why?

I don't think so. Pau is far more famous than Andrew ( especially here in Europe ). For the most of the people Lakers = Kobe + Pau. Andrew hasn't yet showed anything... I hope he does soon...

a lot of LA FANS LIKE bYNUM B/C HE IS YOUNG (21), AND STRONG. he reminds us of Shaq a little with moves from Karrem. we love Drew, but Pau is the MAN, well Kobe is he Man but Pau is the capo
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

What's amazing to me is most people couldn't see that we were a doughnut in the middle until Pau came. Bynum was pretty dominant but he was spoonfed for the most part.

I'm happy with the acquisition. One more move (could have been Posey) and the Lakers are pretty much guaranteed a few Chips.
