noones using odom as a scapegoat
but would the F.O. really trade Pau.
i mean he helped us catapult to elite status when AB went down.

We've been experimenting with L.O for four years goin on 5 soon.

Now we gotta re-experiment w/ dude at the 3 spot now..
I'm just tired of wasting kobe's prime with this.

ARTESSSSSSSSSSSSSSST

True! We can't blame Lamar for everything. I mean who else had a bad series? Pau, Fish, Vlad... But we focus on LO since he is the only one who we would probably trade. I just wish to see them play all together with Bynum. Who knows what happens with LO at the 3.

why not bring him off the bench?

Re-sign Sasha, start him at 2 and move Kobe to the 3

I know LO will be an expensive bench player but hey, coming off the bench he can play against opposing teams second unit and perhaps that can be a confidence booster. Over the course of the season maybe Sasha/LO can platoon the 5th starter position depending on who's hotter at that time and matchups

14-15 million is way too much for an inconsistent sixth man with erratic jumpshooting. LO has gotta go. We need a real SF like Deng or Artest (preferably Artest for his D).

If he was to start at the 3 that would instantly create a mismatch, and from a size perspective rebounding will be increasing you would think, but Lamar doesn't have the quickness to defend against more agile SF's which is a problem for us.

For a while i'd assume Bynum will not start as he is short on game fitness so Pau as C and Lamar as PF will work but when Bynum comes back Lamar is a question mark at the 3.

If we do trade him we need a solid defender at the 3 who can take the pressure off of Kobe and help shut down opposing top scorers

LO has been facing mismatches every game for the past 4 years, has he taken advantage?

We have one already...his name is Ariza

Trading Odom makes sense if they get a good fit and good value in return, Chicago deals make the most sense (Deng or Hinrich as the principal with Thomas or Gooden). At this point the Lakers aren't getting solid offers so it'll be roll out the team as is and hope that Odom can hit from midrange and 3 and make better decisions. If not they can shop him deadline and better, cause if they keep him through the season then Odom gains leverage to veto S&T's and can be another to look at Europe. The Lakers can't afford to lose Odom for nothing, but that risk multiplies exponentially if they don't deal him by the deadline.

The current Lakers' regime doesn't ever appear to feel this heat/threat, with any of their players.

Any idea, why?

I don't think Lamar will be traded. With him, we have the longest, most versatile front court in the league. Some say that his lack of shooting is going to hurt us yet the people that we consider as replacements don't shoot that much better than him. In 05, LO played a lot of SF when we had Kwame and Mihm in the starting line up with him. That year, he shot really well from the 3 point line. Recently he hasn't shot as much from long range as a PF. He's adjusted his game to what the team needed of him at the position he would play. I think he's going to be working hard this summer to improve that jump shot. (I don't know where the misconception that he has a poor work ethic came from?) Plus, he's already experienced in the triangle and from what I can tell, good friends with his team mates.

The only way I'd consider trading him is if we don't re-sign Sasha and we trade him to get a good SF and fill the holes in the bench. For example, LO for Artest, Douby and Williams. We'd get, arguably, an upgrade from him at the SF position and fill the holes left by Sasha and Ronny.

Part of that is confidence JD, the Lakers believe their allure is such that players they want to keep will stay. However now that the payroll is over the threhshold Buss faces a steeper tax bill than ever before. So it seems that the organizational confidence remains, but hasn't adjusted to the new fiscal climate of higher tax bills and European bids. Should they up their offer for Sasha and still lose him to Europe then I think that confidence will crumble a bit and they'll act with greater urgency in the future. As of now though, they seem content to wait, make the better offer last minute and fully expect to keep the services of who they wish to retain. Overconfidence is dangerous, you don't react and adjust until circumstances force you to do so. Sasha or Odom may be that force.

Hope it doesn't bite us in the butt, though I agree with the assessment.

BTW... You missed something. http://lakernation.c...hp?showforum=11

Most of you know where I stand on the issue:

Poor fit.
Lack of chemistry with the Franchise Player.
yada, yada, yada...

For those who don't know me, hi. I'm Chris. I really want Lamar traded for [insert elite perimeter defender]. I enjoy moonlit walks on the beach and my favorite color is Blue-Green-Brown.

I'm glad to be here...
