The reason behind it is moot. Both of them did it because they felt they weren't getting their way. It was unprofessional, uncalled for, and it caused a lot of unnecessary trouble for the organization. Even Kobe himself admitted it was wrong for him to go about it the way he did.

I don't think you're actually listening to what I'm saying since you completely missed the point. I'm not saying that what either one of em did WASN'T wrong, I'm just saying that they both did wrong for different reasons. One was looking out for himself in terms of greed and fame, while the other just wanted to win like all great athletes do.

okay, let's forget about the name Shaq. Here's a hypothetical situation. Let's say a 14-time all-star, and future hall of famer wants to sign with this team for his final year as a backup to our starting center for cheap. He is old, but our professional medical staff evaluates this player and concludes that he is healthy enough to play. Our front office and coaching staff, all of whom are very experienced with this guy's big ego, deem him fit enough to help this team. Now are you going to sit there and say you'll hate this deal?

okay it's been a while since shaq has left. what did he say that has to do with greed and fame? all I remember is buss trading him because he didn't want to pay him money that Shaq earned and deserved. yea shaq was angry and was being an immature prick by talking crap, but it was because he felt he was shafted by buss. and I just remember him talking trash about Kobe because of a personal grudge and he genuinely did not like him, not because of fame or greed.

4 years makes a big difference guys. Kobe is a different person now than he was during that whole thing, and I think if he could go back and face that situation again, he'd handle it differently. I have no idea who Shaq really is, or what he really stands for. One moment he's praising Kobe as the best in the world and calls him "my man" and then comes out with a rap that's supposedly just him f'ing around.

It's been proven who's the bigger man in this soap opera and who's the jealous one. If I remember right Buss told Kobe he didn't want to have to shell out the kind of money Shaq wanted for a guy that needed extra motivation to play hard, came into camp half the time out of shape, and couldn't hit his free throws worth anything. If Buss brings back Shaq it could work out for the benefit of the Lakers, because Shaq knows he's not the main man anymore, and Kobe is the type of leader now that would know what to do and how to handle the garbage, which he even admitted.

Like I said though earlier, I think Shaq will stay with the Suns for the remainder of his career and finish out there, but if he were to retire in LA then I think it could work out.

we had solid veterans through those tough times man so when it was game time the feuds were put aside...other than Fish is there anyone here who can be a voice of reason and a calming presence to this young team?

And my point is that if ego is a problem, they won't sign him. If health and production is a problem, they won't sign him. If they sign him, you can be sure they took all that under consideration. They won't sign him just because Shaq wants to come here. They'll sign him because they want him here.

Your point is that you don't like the guy and don't want him here.

All these things will be taken into consideration because that's the front office's job.

The Bulls team was filled with egos. Showtime had huge egos in Magic and KAJ.

Egos are healthy for a championship team. They help take the team to new heights. Kobe and Shaq have proved successful together. This team lacks toughness, and if it weren't for our lack of distance shooting bigs, Shaq would be perfect in the toughness sector.

He's also ranked 2nd in PER among all centers. As much as I dislike Shaq, and trust me I strongly dislike him, he still produces, and better than most of the starting centers in the league.

No I don't know it. I'm not psychic. Apparently you are. I'm sure you didn't think Shaq would do well when traded to Phoenix last season. That was wrong. I'm sure you thought he wouldn't play well at all this year either. That was wrong.

For the millionth time, you don't know if we'll have that "lightning quick bench". Farmar and Ariza may be starting at that point and they are the spark that makes our bench "lightning quick". You have to be psychic to know who will be on that bench in 2 years and whether or not Shaq will fit in. YOU DON'T KNOW IF HE WILL FIT IN, PERIOD, THEREFORE YOUR WHOLE POINT IS MOOT. Whether or not he will, that decision will be left up to our front office.
