Its still way to early in the season right now. But Rudy Fernandez is the clear favorite right now. Just look at Chicanos post.

As for rookie of the year, I think it might be between OJ, Rose and Rudy.

Bingo, ramalamading dong.

But really, I agree with your last post, it could end up ultimately being between those three and the fact that Rose & Mayo, one of the reasons being us home grown players, they get way more mainstream media spotlight and love, that may definitely unfortunately impact the final voting or whatever greatly as well. Rudy can't control that unfortunately.

Unless Rudy starts in Portland

Nate's apparently using him as Ginobili. He finishes games anyway for what it's worth in the 4th quarter with the first squad against the opposition's first squad all stars in the clutch moments. Rudy could easily start, EASILY, but like I said, probably Nate using him as Ginobili.

They usually look at stats in regards to ROY award

Well if that's the case, by the numbers I showed of all rookies including rookie, Rudy's not in bad shape at all, haha.

Keep in mind, Rose was the #1 pick, while Rudy was #24.. embarrassing for Rose..

Chicano the reason I say he needs to start is because only then he'll get more minutes which translates into better numbers

He's playing only 29 minutes a game while Rose is playing close to 39 minutes per game. For Rookie of the year, its usually handed out to players who have better statistics overall and Rose is putting up better all around stats than any other rookie right now

Rose is putting up better stats and he's already one of the best players on his team, if not the best. He does a lot more than Rudy does for Portland and he's a better player.

Hollinger's stats?

thats per 36 minutes

they don't look that closely at the end of the year

they only look at final stats and Rose is the all around leader right now

I don't want to do a Rose-Rudy thing, because I respect your opinion NIssan, just thought that Rudy is doing more with less time. but we will see how it ends. :(

OJ Mayo is my rookie of the year, followed closely by Rudy Fernandez. Rose? I think he is really overrated, he will be a great PG but he is still an average one.

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

I change the topic title so we can discuss Rudy and Rose for ROY.

How is Rose overrated?

Rose is already a good PG and he's only going to get better. He's going to be an all star in 2-3 years. Rose is not an average PG.

 Nissan is bound to be biased towards Rose, cause Niss is from Chicago.

Netlord is bound to be biased towards Rudy, cause he's from Spain.

Right now, Rose has to get the nod over Rudy. I'd love, and I mean LOVE to hand it to the European player, but right now Rose is just playing superb for a rookie. I know he's getting more minutes, but more minutes = bigger impact on his team. I'm sorry, but right now Rose deserves the nod over Rudy. However, Mayo deserves the nod over both of them.

Of course, it's very early in the season and it could still change.

So far this years class has shown depth and alot of rookies are putting up good numbers.
O.J Mayo
Derrick Rose
Rudy Fernandez
Michale Beasley
Lionel Chalmers
Luc Richard M’Bah A Moute
Jason Thompson
Kevin Love
D.J Augustine
Russell Westbrook
Javele McGee
Marc Gasol

All those guys have made immediate impact, picking rookie of the year will be though but leaving any of them out of the rookie all star game will be harder.

Between Rose and Mayo. I think it'll come down to those 2. They'll be in it for the long run IMO. I respect what Rudy can do but he's not THE MAN on his team so it's hard to compare him to 2 guys who are. Derrick Rose is BARELY 20 and he's putting up these kind of numbers? He's gonna be a beast for a long time. Remember what sealed up the ROY for LeBron when him and Melo were neck and neck? It was the 20-5-5 line he put up that only a few rookies had done (MJ, Bird, Big O I believe). Right now Rose is at 19-5-5. Pretty damn impressive. I surely didn't expect that from him.

Lol yeah, that was hilarious. Only the Clippers, lmao.

Btw, right NOW, even I can admit, Rose NOW has the advantage and top spot.. Rudy hasn't been the same these last few games, but what pisses me off most is it seems like he hasn't nearly been or tried to be as aggressive.

Rudy has two things over Rose and Mayo: one, he's been playing in a competitive league for years plus international ball every summer, so he may not hit the rookie wall as the other two probably will (just as every rookie does); two, Portland is going to be competing for a playoff spot while the Bulls and Grizzlies will probably be tanking for ping pong balls in the second half of the regular season.

Other than that, it's hard to see Rudy getting more media exposure and better stats than Rose and Mayo, which in the end are what matter in the ROY race. I think he's more likely to win the 6th man at some point of his NBA career than the ROY this year.
