the thing is, I doubt Lil Wayne n a lot of other rappers even make it if Pac was still around. Esp the Ja Rules, DMX's, etc
Thats another animal of a discussion. Its true if Pac was still alive he would have some type of long term effect on which rap stars make it or not. But the probability is Pac would have stopped rapping. He was moving into acting and wanted his own label. He would have done stuff here and there, guest appearance type stuff. But Pac in time was on his way to becoming a Will Smith type caliber movie star. A pop star with street cred. The world has never seen that from a rapper before so its hard to tell what exactly Pac would have been into. He would have been the modern day Elvis in comparrision.
Age is a big determining factor. I know Snoop and Dre and all them still rap even though their around 50 but imo Pac wouldnt be. Not full time anyway. Youth wants to listen to youth. Weezy, chingy, DMX, etc and all those cats that have came up since 96 probably would have still taken their coarse and did their thing if they were legitimatley putting out music. It may have been somehow different, but success is success. Basically if Pac was still alive he may not have prevented other rappers from succeeding he may have inspired more to come up than what we have today.
What about the Bloods & Crips meeting in 93 or 94? Where Pac and people from the neighborhood were financing that event. Bloods and Crips got together, shook hands, exchanged their bandana's and stuff like that. (can't find a vid on youtube, but it was on Tupac: Resurrection).
All thats subject to interpretation. Pac was involved and wanted to stop gang violence. But then he would beat the hell out of another gang member in a casino lounge....lol
By advocating gang peace he enabled himself to sell more records. A rapper who had street cred in LA that was NOT FROM LA impacted the hood gang affiliated market and rose to the top of it. Thats not supposed to happen really. But it did because of Pacs involvement. He made the world believe he was saturated in the bloods and crips his whole life. But it wasnt untill he signed with Death Row that the gangster Pac was released. Till then it was just Thug Life. Thats a vague misinterpretation of the same thing. Pac knew what he was doing.
