CP gave up? We gave up consecutive baskets to him until he missed the above 2pt line jumpshot...

See now, I never said that CP3 gave up, I just said he had a face that looked like he knew it was going to be very difficult to pull a win after Kobe hit that shot, almost like it was futile, but regardless he still tried.

Ditto. Sigh, if only the 2nd half has the same effort like 1st half....102-60...=X

is that sarcasm GC?

Unfortunately, no. I'm serious. Kobe played poorly when all he had to do was read the defense. That's what he normally does.

Instead, he forced shots, played average defense and made some questionable decisions.

I'm normally willing to give Kobe a little leeway but this was a game where he could have distinguished himself in the MVP race. He could have shown the leadership we needed. Having an off night? Set your teammates up. Play LOCKDOWN DEFENSE.

I was not impressed at all. But if you guys think it was because of the back-to-back, I'll (try to) buy that...for now.

Well then next game he'd say Kobe = GOAT then next game he'd say Kobe = TRASH then Kobe = FEAR.

Let's be real, if Kobe even has a decent game there would've been no need for the clutch 3. Gotta agree with GC here.

Trade Kobe.
He sucks, letting Phil + teammate + Media influence his game.
Let's use the most lethal scorer as a "facilitator" and "get your teams involved" while not letting him run a single play for 10 possession.
While we're at it, let's play him 30 minutes, cuz you know, Kobe was complaining a lot about being tired.
Not a superstar anymore, just a role player.

You know I don't usually criticize Kobe (just like anyone who knows me from any other board). I've given him plenty of latitude because he's, well, KOBE. But you've got to call a spade a spade. This team has potential to build something great. That's going to take a different mindset from Kobe's "Hero Mode".

We have to keep crashing upon them like waves, not try to crush them all in one blow. Last night, I got the feeling that Kobe wanted the later when the former would have been more appropriate.

And yes, it would have been a 30 point blow-out if not for some of Kobe's "possessions".

I agree with you GCMD, but at least Phil saw it like we did and called him out on it. Kobe ain't gonna do this again, right Kobe!?

i say give him a break, he probably just wanted to pass bird, so his head wasn't in the right place, and he made some poor decisions...boo hoo, its just one game, and i could see if they lost, or the game was close the whole way and he wasn't jacking up shots. i don't think anyone will argue he had a bad game, i'm just saying who cares? there's 82 of them, and not all 82 of them will be good, i don't care who he is. if 4 more of the shots had fallen, this wouldn't be an issue...when it becomes a trend, then call him on it...he's earned a bad night here and there...besides, its that confidence that he's going to make whatever he puts up that makes him great...that allowed him to take and hit the 3 on posey

And I'm glad he did. We need to get off to a good start because no matter how good we look now, we are STILL a work in progress. This team can grow or rest on it's laurels (which mean nothing after getting embarrassed by the Celts in the Finals Elimination Game).

It starts with Kobe. He has to set the tone. Leave that MVP crap alone and stick to winning. Don't take the team he BEGGED for, for granted.

I don't anticipate a trend or repeat performance. I was just putting my feelings out there. My takes usually aren't popular but in the end, they are proven reliable.

I'm willing to put the bet that he wants a piece of posey...since he's the first (ex) celtic Kobe met....

Is this the start of a "Start Sasha" thread? Could one of my biggest dreams be coming true!? Haha.

More than likely. Just not something I want to see on the regular.

It's not one game. This is the old Kobe but this is a WHOLE NEW TEAM.

At one point, we needed "Hero" Kobe. Now, we don't.

Well, probably affected by this will be....Kobe's dropped to no.2. Guess who's no.1 in the mvp race? The one that scored 3 straight 41 pts...
