Scouting Report

The key to beating the Hornets is to know their personnel. Some teams in this league beat you with their execution of precise offensive playsets. The Hornets beat you with Chris Paul pushing the tempo, creating offense and finding open men. This team averages 20 three point shots per game. With marksmen such as Peja Stojakovic, Mo Peeterson, and Rasual Butler they will always have threats on the perimeter. David West and Tyson Chandler provide the perfect companions for screen and roll actions because West can roll or pop and hit the shot from 18-20 feet and Chandler is one of the best lob candidates in the league. It is also crucial to keep Chandler off the offensive boards.

Our best chance at slowing the push of Chris Paul is to take good shots offensively so that we have a balanced floor and are ready with our transition defense. This will help us keep Paul out of the middle and will allow us to get our helpers in place for the multitude of screen and rolls that we will encounter. The Hornets bench is improved this year with the addition of James Posey. Mike James also provides a spark off the bench and second year athletic player Julian Wright is much improved. We cannot allow CP3 to have a high scoring/high assist game. We must force someone other than him to make plays. In their two losses this season they had high turnover numbers. Our length and active hands should help us create some turnovers tonight.

On our offensive end we know that Chandler loves to come from the weakside to block shots so whoever he is guarding needs to find the open spot and be ready to catch and finish the play. James Posey is a solid defender on the ball and will try to take a charge. We must be ready to use our automatic pressure release options out of the triangle. Head Coach Byron Scott has this team putting an effort in on the defensive end so we must be ready to execute.

The Hornets have not played since Saturday so they will be ready. Our good decision making can help us control the tempo. We must play hard and with the energy necessary to beat a team that wants to challenge us for the leadership of the Western Conference.

After reading BSPN preview and this scouting report, and learning they have not played for 3 days, I hope they come out rusty, and we get to play the passing lanes better...defensively too.

In truth, I have some worries of the game...hope we will take care of business effectively, this IS a back to back and we had dug ourselves a lil hole yesterday and playing kobe and pau 36min. Sasha played the least out of the 'bench mob', hope he shows up. The bench and other starters need to buckle up.

Lakers ftw.

I'll say it again - the Hornets are OVERRATED. I am not scared nor nervous about this game. I believe we can compete with every team in the league, and our experience will push us through. I also expect a HUGE performance from our bench, again, tonight.

Lakers by 11.

we had all sorts of problems guarding the 3 last night and they pushed the pace against us

Look for CP 3 to do the same

we need to get back on D

Dampier outmuscled Bynum all night yesterday, I hope Chandler doesn't eat Bynum up tonight

It's not going to be easy against a good team like New Orleans tonight, but the Lakers are one the few teams that can beat New Orleans at their house. Go Lakers.

Chris Paul has set an NBA record - 6 straight games of 20 points/10 assists at the start of the season.

The way the Lakers are playing. Over.

Lakers showed up to play in the fourth quarter last night and still won by 7.
