Davis starts most answers with "defense" when describing his game, but he's an efficient offensive player. Career 54.2% FG's in 4 seasons.

In Davis' 36 games with MEM after being traded from TOR in 2012-13, he averaged 3.1 blocks per 36 min., way over his 1.6 per 36 career avg.

Davis' per 36 #'s: 2012-13 TOR: 14.5 ppg, 9.9 rpg, 1.3 bpg, 54.2% FG's; 2013-14 MEM: 13.4 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.6 bpg, 53.4 FG%.

Davis on Randle: "I think he's going to be a really good player." Reminds him of Zebo, but "he can put it on the floor a lil' bit better."

I think Davis is the same size as Noah, do not be surprised due to his superior rim protection if he eventually starts over Hill.

Do not be surprised due to his superior rim protection if he eventually starts over Hill.

I actually think that would be a better idea. I understand they gave Hill a larger contract, but he's still best playing limited minutes and serving as an energy guy off the bench.

If Davis can show consistency as a viable rim protector during preseason, he should probably be the starter. That would provide much needed paint protection right from the start.

...But tough week for Coop, Davis gets his old number and tongue cancer.

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick (Randle!) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

I could see a scenario where Hill and Davis end up starting

Just like Bynum and Pau

One will sit, and play with the back ups

I think that's best for Hill

Let him star...get his rest and have energy off the bench with guys like Randle, Nick Young,Xavier and Clarkson

Damn...That's kinda a dope ass bench. Dont mess around a let Kelly improve or Nash gets traded for a NICE player on what may be seen as a bad contract...Similar to Lin right now

I'm pretty excited to see how he pans out. I think, like most of you do that we got a steal here.

This was a savvy signing.

Davis looks pretty good working out this morning. Working on his post moves and focusing on his free throw stroke

Awesome.  Do you see him taking the starting 5 spot from Hill?

Don't see him taking the starting spot because I think the Lakers value Hill's rebounding but Davis looks like someone that will get quite a few minutes.

One thing they were really working on today was his free throw shooting:

I didn't get video of him shooting FTs but I can tell you its a lot smoother now than what was in that clip

Ed Davis Defense vs the rest of the Lakers Front Line

The 6'10" forward ranked fourth in the entire league in opponent's field-goal percentage while defending the rim among players who played an appreciable number of minutes and defended at least three such shots per game, per NBA.com.

His frontcourt mates Jordan Hill, Carlos Boozer and Ryan Kelly ranked 55th, 109th and 124th, respectively, out of the 128 players who qualified under those criteria.
