Cleveland: Irving, Wiggins, Lebron, Thompson, Varajao

Miami: Cole, Wade, Deng, McRoberts, Bosh

Chicago: Rose, Butler, McDermott, Gasol, Noah

Washington: Wall, Beal, Pierce, Nene, Gortat

Indiana: Hill, Stephenson (possibly), George, West, Hibbert

I have Cleveland ranked 3rd here with Miami not as far back at 4th as some might think. Irving is a good young player, but his team gives up a lot of points with him on the floor and his shooting percentage is going down each year. Thompson and Varajao are not giving to give them enough inside presence to truly contend for a title. If they end up with Kevin Love somehow that is a different story.

As it stands now I have Chicago and Indiana as the top 2 teams in the East.

Have them first for a few reasons.

Inside presence? You never have that with Lebron, you can't have a big man down low that is gonna park in the lane if Bron is gonna run the offense . Also considering you don't need a low post presence to be a dominant 5, the game has changed. Thompson and Varajao will fight for every rebound and are hustle players great to have on a team.

Kyrie will play better now with a sense that he can actually win and doesn't have to carry the team on his back. Wiggins will have time to work on his game and develop and can blossom into the player everyone thinks he can be.

Chi would be second and that is with a healthy rose. Then again we don't even know what a healthy rose will do anymore because when he was healthy last year his play was pretty bad for his standards but that was most likely him jsut trying to get in the swing of things. Other than that they have a solid team, but I can't put them over the Cavs for the simple fact the Cavs have Bron on their team.

Then in the third spot I have the heat tied with the pacers. However, Was isn't too far behind with their budding young backcourt.

I don't know how good Cleveland really is...

Kyrie Irving might not be all that great...  more than a few comparisons to Starbury and Steve Franchise.

Waiters has always been an ill fit next to Kyrie, and now he will have the ball in his hands even left.

Lebron is the best player in the NBA. he will do what he does.

Thompson is solid. That's it. great at nothing, solid all around.

Varejeo is a certified hustler, scrapper, and tough guy... but you know he will be hurt... he is always hurt...

Wiggins is RAW  for him to develop he needs the rock on offense. im not sure he is going to have many oppertunies to so..

Bennet has more skill and talent then what he displayed last season, but when is he going to have a chance to show it off?

Cleveland needs a CENTER. a defensive rim protecer...

they need to move some of their young pieces for a quality piece that fits

if Miami lands Bledsoe Cleveland drops to the 4th.

If Indiana gets Dragic from the Suns which may happen then they go to 1st if they keep Stephenson.

It all comes down to how those teams will be coached. Wiz can come out with a 50 win season. Chicago definitely will if Rose is healthy. At least the East is getting a little serious now.

Pacers have fallen completely off with the loss of Lance Stephenson and the Hornets are now up there as they have a better team on paper than the Pacers and an actual defensive coach in Clifford

Kemba Walker / George Hill

Lance Stephenson / Paul George

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist / Rodney Stuckey

Noah Vonleh / David West

Al Jefferson / Roy Hibbert

6th Man PJ Hairston / Unannounced
Bench : Gerald Henderson, CDR, Cody Zeller, Bismack Biyombo / Unannounced

Coach Steve Clifford / Frank Vogel

Hornets are now a better team than the Pacers.

The Eastern Conference next year has stronger teams and their lineups, teams like

Pistons, Hornets, Bulls, Wizards, Hawks, Heat are still good,  as well as the Cavs.

Up and coming young cores
Magic: Payton, Gordon, Vucevic, Oladipo
Bucks: Jabari, Giannis, Knight, Sanders
Philly: MCW, Embiid, Noel(if they ever play together)

Teams that fell off are
Pacers, Nets

Teams that stayed the same
Celtics

Honestly the Hornets also match up well against the Cavs

Kemba Walker / Kyrie Irving

Lance Stephenson / Andrew Wiggins

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist / LeBron James

Noah Vonleh / Tristan Thompson

Al Jefferson / Anderson Varajao

I think Zeller will start for the Hornets before Vonleh does.

Clifford is a lot like Thibs when it comes to that so I'll assume it will depend on who shows they can play better defense.  Vonleh's rebounding capability may take precedence next to Jefferson but we'll see what Steve does with it.

LeBron changes everything for Cleveland. You have a guy who can fulfill almost any role on the floor. This opens up so many options for them. Varejao becomes much better, Kyrie will actually be able to play off the ball for once (I expect his shooting numbers to improve drastically), and Wiggins should be able to develop well over the course of the season. If he can translate his defense to the NBA, he could carve out a very nice niche for himself in his first year.

I see them as the best team out in the East, starting lineup wise. Having the best player in the league makes such a big difference. Without LeBron, I'm not sure if that lineup even cracks top 8. But LeBron just opens up the game so much for everyone else.

I think Cleveland right now have one of the most dangerous starting linups in the nba.

Kyrie - Waiters - Lebron - Bennett - Varejao w/ Wiggins, Thompson, James Jones and Mike Miller off the bench.

The scary part is how deadly they could be if they moved a couple of pieces. Obviously, they should keep Kyrie, Wiggins and Lebron, but everyone else could be moved for another impact player.

No idea on original question...but i wonder if riles regrets his news conference 'challenging' his guys to take less and stay together?

Did he do that with some knowledge that lebron was undecided about staying?

Or did the news conference 'bully tactic' just utterly fail and make the decision easier for lebron to up and leave?

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick (Randle!) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

Cleveland now willing to include Wiggins in trade to Minny for Love

Kyrie, Deion, LBJ, Love, Varejao/Thompson

Thats a badass team. Still see them losing to the Spurs in 5-6.

Unless Love got injured again.

Love is less injury prone than Wade and has never had the benefit of playing with that much talent to ease his work load.

Don't see that being an issue.
