You've guessed correctly

Dirk always likely to be first major free agent to decide. Sources say sides agreed today to three-year pact believed to be in $30M ballpark

Zero surprise, he should retire a Maverick, it's only right.

Good for him - and the Mavericks.

Wow that's a good deal for the Mavs. Hopefully Pau doesn't scream for 10 mil per year now.

Stupid deal, but Cuban would probably risk  giving Dirk some form of compensation that his lawyers can loophole their way out of

He's no Kobe...whatsoever

But he should have gotten 15 a year

Story going online now detailing how Rockets AND Lakers called w/max offers for Nowitzki, but he rebuffed all outside interest to stay w/DAL

The Lakers offered Dirk Nowitzki a MAX CONTRACT, but Dirk said no and signed for $8.3 mil a year in Dallas..Wow...(ESPN)

WTEF!

Like Tim Duncan a few years ago, Dirk went from a $20M salary to single digits (Duncan's pay cut may have been a little over $10M). Tremendous gesture from Nowitzki. The west is rough, and this pay cut allowed the Mavericks to afford young talent to ensure they remain competitive. The Mavericks probably don't have enough to win a championship, but at least they'll be in the postseason.

Mavericks have a stronger team than the one they took to the finals currently.
