No word deal is imminent (yet) but Sacramento's well-known fondness for Rajon Rondo would help explain Kings' interest in his buddy JSmoove

Kings interested in Josh Smith could have a whole lot to do with Rajon Rondo and Josh Smith being best friends. (h/t @ESPNSteinLine)

Getting rid of Josh Smith is addition by subtraction for the Pistons. Good on SVG if he can get it done.

The Kings is like the city dumpster for the NBA.  Any trash you have that you want to get rid of send them over.   There was Rudy Gay now its Josh Smith.

When you look at the NBA landscape, there are so many teams that you just wondering why they exist. Sacramento King is such a sad story. Once were a pretty good franchise with Bibby and Weber running the show and had an owner that even if you didnt agree with all the stupid businesses mistakes they made, the Maloof did put the Kings on the map for a couple of years or so. Now they own by this indian guy who probably doesn't even care to own the Kings in the first place.  Didn't he buy the Kings because of the pressure that was put by Kevin Johnson? He was part of the ownership team for the Warriors right?

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

I just don't see who they'd be trading in this deal.

Rudy Gay for Smith is the only option I see, but who knows.  Both teams have horrible contracts on their hands.

Yes, J-Smoove is terrible in Detroit....he isn't a small forward.

If they get rid of Smith then any possibility we had of signing Monroe is pretty much gone.

Josh Smith has been woefully over-rated since day one.

Rumored Sacramento-Detroit trade is "dead" according to a team source. Talks were ongoing for a few days, but Detroit nixed it this morning.

Indian people are also known for being so cheap with every single penny. Its like putting a chinese businessman & an indian buyer. It will never work out fine.. Why?

Because chinese people wants to get every single penny out of your pocket but an indian guy wants to keep every single penny in their pocket. Its just not gonna work in sacramento. Although the owners daughter is pretty hot but thats about it.

Easily one of the most racist and ignorant things I've read on here. Educate yourself and think before you speak.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that was way out of line

I wonder what the proposals for the deal were?

This analogy is uncalled for and really has nothing to do with the trade nor basketball.

And if you actually knew the story behind the Kings ownership you'd rethink your statement. The current owner had very minimal basketball knowledge going in and actually coached his daughters recreational team just for fun. Somehow he decided to spend millions of dollars on a mediocre team and placed a bid that allowed the Kings to stay in Sacramento.

Clearly the man isn't cheap nor stingy and the Kings are in a much better position than they were prior to him owning the team.

Plus the Kings just avoided a death sentence if they had acquired Josh Smith.

That's a quote from a stand up routine from an Indian comedian, I recognize it.

Detroit get: Steve Nash and another piece.

Sacramento get: Josh Smith

Pretty much dead now that they signed Kaman. Might possibly why this trade have resumed. SVG not looking to keep both Monroe or JSmoove 1 of em gotta go.

Sources said the Pistons also seriously discussed various sign-and-trade scenarios this month that would have landed restricted free agent Greg Monroe in Portland, but the Blazers ultimately pulled themselves out of the race for Monroe by signing free-agent big man Chris Kaman to join Robin Lopez in the Blazers' center rotation.
