Guy was my idol when I was a kid in San Diego. Always wore his jersey. Sad to see him go so soon.

He had a awful last couple of years as well.  Unfair how a quality human being like him got taken out so terribly.

Yeah, read up on him yesterday and his last few years were pretty bad. Lost 80lb at one point when put on a liquid diet, lost the ability to taste food at another, dealt with cancer.

RIP.

.338 career hitter, 3,000+ hits, rarely struck out, one of the best hitters.

Best hitter since Ted Williams.

 

We will never see a more complete hitter in today's game.

Only stuck out 400 something times over his entire career... Never struck out more than 40 times in a season... Amazing...
