Sources tell @ESPNSteinLine the Grizzlies may turn to Jeff Van Gundy as coach, head of front office. http://es.pn/1lL6MkT

The Memphis Grizzlies reportedly want Jeff Van Gundy to be their coach and team president http://bit.ly/1jNwKY4

The Grizzlies are reportedly interested in hiring Jeff Van Gundy as team president and new head coach. (http://NBA.com )

Phil the trendsetter, lol. I know Pat Riley was the first one, but ever since Phil got the gig, teams offering both jobs to them like it's nothing lol.

What is with giving these coaches the coaching job and a major position of power?  It's just stupid at this point.

it's going to cause some coaches to get the wrong idea.  It screams desperation to hire a coach and give them a GM like position regardless of any experience they'd have.   It's like saying you can't run your own office so you'll let the coach do it. Seriously.. ugh -_-

ESPN sources say Wolves and Grizz have hit impasse over compensation, prompting Joerger to tell Memphis he's staying

Wolves feel as though they don't want to pay any compensation for a coach they know Grizz don't want to keep. Matter now of who yields

Impossible to imagine Joerger returning as Grizzlies coach. Relationship with ownership was dysfunctional last year. Can't come back.

Most who know Pera say he has the best of intentions. Willing to spend to make Grizz a winner. But lacks understanding of how NBA works.

So the Grizzlies are playing all tough about David Joerger, yet they will likely just let him go soon. Makes sense.

Joerger still wants to go to Minnesota. Grizzlies insisting they won't fire him. Who blinks? Do Wolves ultimately surrender second-rounder?

What turned Joerger back to Grizz, sources say: Several long talks between Pera and him w/ fired CEO Jason Levien no longer between them.

Talks never got moving on compensation once Pera and Joerger started to build a relationship that hadn't been there, sources say.

Really don't know much about him but I thought he did a pretty good job considering the team he has....and only 1 year at that.

If Zeebo doesn't get suspended it might have been Memphis/Spurs instead, and who knows what happens in that scenario.

Griz coach Dave Joerger's original contract sweetened. 4th year option is now guaranteed. Pera added a 5th year that is a team option
