ESPN is citing the Orange County register report just like EVERYONE else.

This is the response to that "rumor"  from both Ramona and Ding.   ESPN jumped too soon just like they did when they said Gasol got traded.

Lakers management has not met with D'Antoni yet

ron

g style="font-size: 24px;">DING: Jim Buss "not sold" on D'antoni despite Mitch's support.

Kupchak clearly supported D'Antoni's work this season. I will add I heard from someone else recently Jim Buss wasn't sold. Again, we'll see.

  1. Lakers insist they have not made decision on D'Antoni yet. They haven't met formally yet, but he is pressing them for resolution

I'm told D'Antoni has asked Lakers to pick up his option in year 4 if he's to have any chance of succeeding if he's retained

As we mentioned a few weeks ago, D'Antoni's been strong in telling the Lakers he'd have a hard time succeeding under same conditions nxt yr

There has been no decision made and Jim doesn't like him.

So D'Antoni is saying two more years or let him go?

As if the decision wasn't easy already.

Pretty much.  The Lakers don't want to extend him.   They want to use the early termination option on him so they can run at Carlisle or Thibs(whose contracts shall be up by then).

D'antoni knows this.   He knows the Lakers see him as nothing more than a transition rebuild coach that they are going to unload the moment they are putting together a contending roster and are using him only to designate role players for when that team is made.

So he is trying to get them to guarantee his team option for a 2nd year so they just don't let go of him and the Lakers don't want to do that and Jim doesn't 'buy' that D'antoni can turn the team into a contender when that moment comes even when healthy.   So to me, if the Lakers don't blink on this, D'antoni will probably re-sign.  He'll either acknowledge he's gone the moment the Lakers put together a contending roster or he's gone now.   So we'll see what happens with that.

D'antoni sure isn't helping matters for himself by asking that of them though.

Let's not forget.  Jim's the one that made the 3 year guarantee.  So there's a reason he doesn't "buy" into D'antoni right now.

D'Antoni doesn't help himself by being himself.

If he's back, I'm not.

Which team you switching to?

Will you still moderate here?

Its possible the plan will just take longer than we like

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health (looks pretty good so far), 2. High Draft Pick (Randle...injured game #1.*sigh*) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of, Davis, nice upside!), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

If you guys want to occupy Staples, do it because Sterling is a racist POC(rap)...

I'd be ashamed to have him as an owner of a major sports team in LA...more than what happened this year with the Lakers.

It would seem reasonable that Staples could get ugly around the arena tonight with lots of unhappy people protesting etc.

LAPD im guessing is going to be out in force around the arena with an overwhelming presence.

Could get ugly. Hoping its peaceful and cooler heads prevail

Really? Nancy Pelosi is your go to for worst Italian? Speaking as a fellow Italian I'd suggest you look up some of the things Silvio Burlesconi has done if we're talking about living Italians. Or, you know, the Sicilian mafia, I think they'd have a claim to most embarrassing Italians.

I don't get the occupying STAPLES over MDA coming back. I don't want him back, most of us don't, but at the end of the day whatever decision Mitch and Co. make is the one were going to have to live with. I'm certainly for voicing displeasure at the return of a coach nobody wants back but doing it by occupying private property that the Lakers don't even own seems a bit foolhardy.

Ahh ok, well I can't really speak to Italian Americans, but generally speaking I still don't think a politician, whether you agree with them or not, are the worst representations of a group of people.

I can't believe that the lakers are so cheap, so dysfunctional, that they would consider brining MDA back...

It's an obvious sign they plan to tank even harder next year
And a sign they plan to take a developmental player in the draft...

I feel like all lakers fans across the nation should have a protest..
A fire mike dantonie rally...

Now it's true that some lakers fans have been calling for to be fire since the first week he was on the job, but it has gone too far...

Two massive failures in a row...

How great would it be if 20,000 laker fans showed up at staples center before the next clipper playoff game?

I can't imagine that he will coach next season for the lakers. Much less 2 more!
I think it is reaching the point, where it is becoming the fans responsibility to let the team, and world, know how we feel...

Occupy staples
The dantonie riot of 2014

I don't want dantonie to be the coach another week... Much less 2 seasons more!!!
Lakers should let him go ASAP... He could have of a job at marshal... Just out of respect for dantonie, they should let him to now...

I would hate to enter another mike brown scenerio

Can you chill now? Don't burn down Staples, please.
