Since they had a boardroom meeting, they must of also discussed MDA's future.

future?

I want Jim to succeed as it is synonymous with the Lakers' success, but it is good to see that he is taking accountability for himself.

Jim makes actions.   Mitch gets credited.  Jim gets blamed.

As if after 4 years of sucking Jim will step down.  These sort of statements projecting 3-4 years has zero accountability and is as useless as Kobe writing 1225 on twitter or threatening sweet revenge.

Only if the profits stop they will sell the team.

I see the statement somewhat differently.

I interpret it to mean...don't expect the lakers to be good next year or the year after.

Which I'm not actually.

But they are set up to do something...just that they are starting from the bottom with Kobe a giant who knows what he'll return like?

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health (looks pretty good so far), 2. High Draft Pick (Randle...injured game #1.*sigh*) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of, Davis, nice upside!), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

It's the LA Lakers. We will be contending (which is considered at least top two or three in the western conference, if not four) by then, and he knows that as well as all of us do.

The likelihood that we don't sign a significant FA or two, draft 3-4 busts, and not make a trade for a star player...is extremely slim.

Agreed.

It would take something ludicrous, like the commissioner of the league doing something way out of line, overstepping and unheard of for something like that to happen.

But come on, what are the odds of that happening

Even if/when that happens, he's not stepping down. It's not like there's anything to hold him to that. Public embarrassment isn't going to force him to step down.

It's just a statement to try to win over fans.

Nice to see that Jim is finally stepping up to make all these people talking crap about him STFU.

Again, it's hilarious to see how terrible our fan base is.

"Jim Buss doesn't take responsibity, his ego is too big and only cares what he thinks."

Jim Buss then makes public comments about him taking responsibility....

"Oh he doesn't mean it."

I honestly think Jim Buss shouldn't step down for [expletive]. It's his birthright to own this team. We are not in a position to tell him what he should do with his team. If y'all are really that serious about getting him gone then stop buying laker gear, watching laker games, and talking about them. That's only way you can ever touch him.

You're right. His family owns the team. They can run it to the ground if they want to.

I sometimes wish Dan Gilbert was our owner so that these [expletive]tards would know what a bad owner is.

I think it's important to remember that when he talks about stepping down, he more than likely means stepping down from the basketball operations position.

He will always be an owner and have final say like Dr. Jerry Buss. But who knows, in a few years, there is a chance that he feels he's not good at controlling the whole basketball side of things.
