Up to 12 cores, 40GB/s PCIe bandwith, up to 64GB ram, 12GB GDDR5 vRAM, 7 teraflops of computing power, 1TB PCIe Flash Storage (2.4x faster than SATA solid state), custom thermal core and chasis, and more. I'm still not too huge on Macs but this is a beauty of its own.

Thoughts?

The TB of flash storage made me drool a bit. That thing is QUICK.

Too bad you're paying $10k at top specs, and 6k at medial specs.

I wouldn't even buy that if I had the money. It'd be more fun for me to build something that competes with that for a quarter of the price.

It's a great looking machine with nice specs but I'd never drop that kind of guap for it. You know what kind of server I could make haha.

Its an interesting design but I would never get it. 10k is a ton of money. I like their laptops a lot more. I see this as more for video editors and what not, not the average person.

I'd never buy this. The only gleaming thing here is the build design... Which is what Apple is good at. Case manufacturers will offer something similar pretty soon.

I still love this case:

You can build something with those specs at a cheaper cost right?

With those exact specs you're looking at spending a bit less, but not by much. Truth is, most people who build workstations don't go for the absolute craziest specs. 64GB of ram, dual GDDR5 Graphics cards, and 12 cores at 30MB of L3 is crazy power but I can't see use for going all out in that sense. At around 8K that can all be had on a PC workstation, while it's hovering close to 13k on the Mac Pro. Regardless, I'm typing this up on my Macbook Pro because I felt that the SSD drive ran way too smoothly on iOS to choose a PC laptop.

The flash storage on the Mac Pro should be incredible though. I will definitely try to opt into some flash storage the next rig I build.

It's a beauty, but computers are being upgraded at a way faster rate than regular users could handle. A regular user uses Office, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and random other sites. You barely need a dual core with 2 gb ram to handle those applications comfortably.

People who have and use the heavier apps such as traders and media editors, I could see investing in computers like this one.
