Lakers' decision to not hire Phil Jackson a family one

Well this team needs a GM with total control because the owners are inept. So hiring Phil and replacing Mitch makes perfect sense to me.
Reminds me of my job, advising customers and clients. And if the client/customer doesn't want to take my advice, then hire someone the customer/client respects enough to follow their advice. Mitch is just a figurehead.
The Lakers need Neal O'Shea. He turned around Portland and the Clippers. He can do the same for the Lakers

If we draft Wiggins, like he drafted Blake Griffin, 1st overall. We will be back on top soon ( assuming he as good as he can be)

I think Phil leaving was the best thing that could have happened. The FO has been acting like it use to lately.

Not without a head coach
Pau Gasol is GONE

Mark Cuban: 'I don't know if the Lakers will ever be the Lakers'
"Jerry Buss was the Lakers, so I don't know if the Lakers will ever be the Lakers,'' Cuban said prior to the Mavs' 94-89 win over Boston on Monday. "I don't think there was a smarter owner in the history of the NBA than Jerry Buss, so that's tough to replace.
"I don't think people realize just how good of an owner Jerry was. I looked up to him a lot. Absolutely. So I don't know if the Lakers will ever be the Lakers.''

The Lakers have not been the Lakers since the Mavs trounced them in the playoffs, so in that respect, Cuban is right.
Neal O'Shea completely turned around the team adding Griffin, Chris Paul and now a hall of famer coach, Doc Rivers. He is now up in Portland and doing the same thing. We have MDA and Mitch Kupchack. Sigh.
But if you say the Lakers Front Office is so incredible, and full of brilliant decisions of late, then there is really no point in arguing with you on that issue.

"Bryant had come to rage against the idea that Howard's clownish disposition could overtake the locker room, the Lakers' culture, and had warned Howard that he would never, ever let it happen."

I agree with Cuban 100%. I said it here on LN the day Buss died. Its gonna be a new franchise, we should all prepare for complete change in how the franchise operates. Looking back that's not a genius statement I comprised from looking into a crystal ball....it was common sense and all the signs were already there to determine the future outcome.
However....with PJ's gone and now completely out of the operations picture....this may also usher in another change.
I would assume its hard to make any decision while being in the shadow of PJ and the late Jerry Buss. Maybe this will make Jimmy a bit more engaged. And comments from other NBA owners, like this one from Cuban can actually help in Jimmy coughing up some balls.

What it also means is that Jeanie is able to focus 300% on what she has to do with no notion of any selfish reason. She can be at games, watching games, interacting with more fans and being as hands on as possible.
Phil being in New York and away from Jeanie is probably the best thing right now for her personally to really dig her feet in. She IS the boss and it's understandable why she would want to spend as much time with Phil as possible considering the time they rarely got anyway. But now that's out of the picture for the better part of the next 2 of the 5 years(because Phil will only be able to take so much from Dolan). That Jeanie can really REALLY focus like she has to.

Cuban can't even land FA's to help Dirk, had to settle for Harris, Eliis, and Dalembert. So I don't think he and his franchise should be high and mighty. Difference is this season their aged superstar has been relevant while ours were nonexistent and only good for throwing tantrums.

None in the 90s
5 in the 2000s
None in the 2010s?
Now it's unlikely we win 5 between now and 2030, but I know you need the right guys on the court.
I doubt Love. You would need a great defensive unit around him.

I bet Dirk is so happy he took that paycut now for those championship caliber free agents it brought him.
