One of the things that stood out for me during the press conf that probably wasn't done during Brown's and Dantoni's tenure is that Scott plans to meet with each player on a one on one basis to get to know them personally and professionally, to listen to what motivates each player, set his expectations as Coach, and together create a tailored game plan that would satisfy the common goal. It may seem like its coaching 101 but clearly, these guys were lost the last 2-3 years not knowing what is expected of them or what their roles are. They seemed confused. Byron saw that and plans to address it immediately. I like it. He wants to earn the players respect and understands it doesnt come automatically by simply being their Coach.

Byron Scott will be running the triangle, elements of the princeton, and run n gun when necessary.

No one has been able to use the triangle offense like Phil Jackson. Following Jackson's departure, Mike Brown came in and instituted the vastly different Princeton offense. And Mike D'Antoni brought, of course, the run-and-gun.

Scott plans to use all three, although just how he plans to do that is still somewhat vague.

Also according to coach Dave Miller whom was Byron's Assistant Coach with the Hornets said that Byron will be running the Princeton and Triangle as well.   JR Smith as well referenced the triangle saying he's run it before with the New Orleans Hornets under Byron Scott so adjusting to what Fisher is going to ask him to do shouldn't be hard.

Thoughts?

If I had to guess, he'll be running Princeton/Triangle sets with the Kobe/Boozer/Jordan Hill lineup, and will run the fast break offense when the young guys are out there or with the bench.

It would be a smart choice and the right idea, but then again it comes down to implementation.  Having the idea is great, if he can implement it is another, but he does have a better understanding of the offense than Brown did(which is why he had so many assistants) so we'll see what happens.

Not a bad start to what his offensive plans are though, if he can pull it off is another thing.

Tbh, we need either Jermaine O'Neal or Elton Brand to start at Center

If we are going to have a high IQ starting line-up

And a DEEP bench

Lin-Kobe-Boozer...we cant have Wes AND Hill out there

UNLESS you START

Nash-Lin-Kobe-Boozer-Hill

if Nash IS healthy and plays well

Then the bench is

Nick

Davis

Randle

Xavier

Kelly

Calrkson

I'd take O'Neal over Brand.

Hill is probably Scott's dream scenario at 5. You know how him and James both love Hill.

Filling out & finalizing the Lakers coaching staff is in the works. Per source, Byron Scott is meeting with existing staff members today.

An old timer i think could be helpful though many may disagree here...

And i'm thinking a bit outside the box here...and it would never happen...

But Don Nelson. Snatch him from his hawaii living. He could add some insight

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick (Randle!) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

Kudos for trying

Not sure how triangle will work with hill at center
Hill is a small ball. Run and gun 5

Variations of the triangle or Princeton can fit a guy like Hill in but he's gonna have to hit the mid range like he was at the end of last year.

Fans are gonna be surprised at how big a role Boozer will play in this offense. I'm the dbag that thinks if every one buys in + healthy Nash & Kobe will equal playoffs and better than even chance at upset in first round.

I agree with you Dave! Although I don't think Nash would be healthy enough. Maybe pick up a Ramon sessions.
