Do you guys think he has what it takes to pull it off?

Directed by John Ridley by the way who did '12 Years A Slave'.

True story.  Steven Segal wanted to be the main character in a Jimi biopic years ago.

Here's the potentially bad news though. It appears that most of Hendrixs' family own the rights to the majority if not all of his music & so it's quite possible they'll be very limited as far as what they can use in the film.

Yeah I figured. Why make the movie if that's the case?

I hope they can change their mind, a Jimi Hendrix movie without his music wouldn't make any sense.

I sometimes hate the attitudes of the right owners /family/relatives of deceased legends with these kinds of things.

Very interesting! I will definitely be checking this out. I do agree with netlord, however--a Hendrix movie without his music wouldn't make too much sense.

Directed by John Ridley by the way who did '12 Years A Slave'.

Didn't Steve McQueen direct 12 Years A Slave? I think Ridley won the Oscar for Best Writing.

Yeah, McQueen is the director, and Ridley wrote the story.

Yes, as netlord pointed out, which is why I simply said he did '12 Years A Slave' as in he was involved, though I suppose I should've clarified. Never meant he directed it, but I digress.

If there's no or very few Hendrix tunes in the flick I don't see the point in watching it...
