Carmelo Anthony.

Seeing him deal with the Knicks is heartbreaking.  Saw the end of the Magic game.  I feel sorry for him myself.

I don't feel sorry for him, he asked to be there.  In fact he forced his way there and he knew the kind of crappy organization they've run for about 20 years.

I think the front office will want to have their options open for next summer's FA targets, namely Kevin Love. If we want to be competitve in both years of Kobe's new contract, we need to secure one good guy and fill the rest of the roster with 1-year above average players.

Lock for long term:

SF -> Luol Deng (If we can't get Wiggins or Parker)

Bench: Wesley Johnson

1-year rental:

Marcin Gortat

Boris Diaw

Trevor Ariza

Mitch just said in his presser that they won't be putting a patchwork team together next year.  If Jim can keep his nose out of  Mitch's work the  Lakers will swing for the fences right now by at least talking to LeBron (won't happen, but worth a shot), going after Carmelo and looking down from there.

Diaw and Ariza are done, done and done.

And Love is a free agent in two summers (2015/16 season).

Very true. But I also blame the stupidity of the Knicks as well.

They could have kept their depth and waited till the off-season to sign Carmelo instead of trading during the season.  He obviously wasn't going to sign an extension with the Nuggets and was gonna go there anyway and the Knicks had a chance, probably the biggest chance to sign him.

But it was the summer after LeBron so the Nuggets tried hastily to move him instead of losing him for nothing, and the Knicks like idiots accepted.

Mitch just said in his presser that they won't be putting a patchwork team together next year.  If Jim can keep his nose out of  Mitch's work the  Lakers will swing for the fences right now by at least talking to LeBron (won't happen, but worth a shot), going after Carmelo and looking down from there.

Didn't Mitch say something about signing a free agent for less money that could take more money in his hometown?

Instantly I thought he was talking about either Carmelo or LeBron.

Carmelo forced both teams to accept.  The Nuggets would be in the same boat if he was still there.  The Knicks got a guy who put butts in the seats when nobody was showing up, not that stupid.  They would've been just as terrible (if nto worse) had he not been acquired.  I've got no sympathy for Carmelo.

Also, the Lakers can't afford to piss their fans off yet again by putting together another shoddy team for next season.  There are a ton of reasons why, but not sending Kobe out with a whimper is one of 'em.

We need to draft a newborn baby to  keep the average low with Kobe, Nash, Kaman and Pau still hanging around.

You need to have the older veterans around, keeps things stable and helps things get over the hump.  You can't win it with all youth, there has to be a veteran presence somewhere.

I was thinking it was gonna be Blake, I don't mind if it's Nash or Kobe or both.

I understand the value of veterans. I was joking.

Greg Monroe ain't coming.

The best post players out their are Z-bone, Hawes, and Bosh (who I doubt will leave).

Melo, and Deng are out there, but don't give them the max.

Can we make a run at Bledsoe if we draft a swingman or a big man?

Arguably the greatest franchise ever

I think we will but I also think we will go after Irving. But now I'm not sure. I reallt don't see the vision of our FO. Just got to wait I guess. It would be ironic if we do end up with Kyrie. Had Dan Gilbert not [expletive]ed and maoned to Stern when we landed cp3 thus getting his wish, we wouldnt be looking for a point guard.

The Lakers already have some good guard play, both athletic and young. More important holes to fill are the bigs. If Hill and Kaman bolt, I am not feeling Sacre and Kelly the only bigs playing.

In 94, when he was young, the Knicks were actually good. The 90s period.

Where exactly does Kelly fit in our long term plans? He is long and is ok at fly-bys but thats it.

Pau will be the best option, sadly.
Hopefully Embiid.
