Opening ceremony right now. The stadium is enormous.

We could probably keep this thread active if enough people watch the Winter Olympics here.

Beautiful opening ceremony. I love that a lot of the participating countries can set aside their differences and compete in a friendly spirit!

^Do you find the Israel/Iran tension immature or just uncontrollable?

Immature. The basketball court has always been a place where I've gone to where I erase all of the world's problems and become color blind. The same concept should apply to the Olympics. I understand that Iran and Israel do not like each other, but at the very least, they should want to compete against one another to showcase their superiority. It is very hard to control politics, but is also immature for one or both of the parties to be uncooperative.

There have been so many problems for the athletes and media already, it's been hilarious.

^^^  Yep Russia has handled the games terrible so far. They have one of the biggest world events going on in their country and they couldn't even properly prepare for them. China handled the games very well, Putin not so much.

I'm sure it would've been better if it were in Moscow. Everyone's still so confused on why they chose Sochi lol

Sochi Winter Olympics Park as seen from space at night. Kinda cool..

From their exclusive lookout more than 200 miles above Earth, the six astronauts and cosmonauts currently living aboard the International Space Station have a stunning view of the 2014 Winter Olympics park in Sochi, Russia.

At night, the spaceflyers can even see the Olympic flame burning.

NASA released an image this week showing the brightly lit Sochi sporting complex, captured by one of the Expedition 38 crewmembers aboard the orbiting outpost.

There's gold and it's haunting and haunting; it's luring me on as of old; Yet it isn't the gold that I'm wanting So much as just finding the gold; It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder, It's the forest where silence has lease; It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder, It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

USA defeats Russia in hockey, just watched the highlights. That was a nice one to win.

Let's see if we can finally beat Canadian's at it.

Since Russia lost to Finland in hockey (poor Putin :naughty: ), the judges have seriously tricked the women's figure skating.

It should be Kim-Sotnikova-Gold. Period.
