LeBron is the only person in the NBA that guards all five positions. He did that exact thing last night in Los Angeles. James guarded everyone from Darren Collison to DeAndre Jordan.

“That’s why I should be Defensive Player of the Year,” James said. “No one has ever done this before.”

No.. you shouldn't.

I don't see him guarding Hibbert, Deandre Jordan or even Pau Gasol

Blake Griffin dropped 43 on Miami. Athletically, Blake and Bron are built the same, but he couldn't get in Blake's way.

Really bad timing for this statement.

This is the same player that allowed Kevin Durant to score 33 points (okay, he did not defended him all the time) last week.

Also by the way, has LeBron ever shut down an opponent's best player? I know he is a great off side defender, but I have never seen him shut down another player one-on-one.

Durant was 9-17 with 23 points when guarded by Lebron.

Any other year I could see this case made, but this year his defense has been pretty suspect to say the least. Durant put him on skates more then a few times. Also they say he guards 1-5 but that isn't really true. Maybe when the other team plays small ball with the heat he can guard a 4 and 5's effectively, but he can't really hang down low with true big men (Dwight, Hibbert, Z-bo, Marc Gasol etc)

If you have to proclaim yourself a winner, ala Howard, then odds are you are not deserving at all. I actually thought he was a great defender 2 years ago, and a little less last year, culminating to this year where I think he has been average at best. Of course the Heat defense relies on pick and roll defense (mainly Bosh), trapping and double teaming which is where I think Lebron's speed and size actually matter most. But to say he is going to iso one player and remove him from the game like Jordan or a prime Kobe would, please.

Lol. Durant was scoring at will on him. Straight draining 3s in his grill.

Hes great on help defense...overrated man to man.

Hibbert is the defensive anchor on the best defensive team. He deserves it.

And seriously...I deserve to be DPOY. STFU. Go out there a prove instead of saying you "deserve" it. I don't here Kobe saying he deserves the MVP in the '06 season like a lil [expletive].
