Rudy Gay and Kings Haven't Discussed Extension

I'm told there have been no discussions between Kings & Gay's reps about extension that is possible. Then again, I was told that 3 hours ago

Gay_Rudy_sac_131216.jpg

Rudy Gay and the Sacramento Kings have not held discussions about a contract extension.

Gay has played well since being traded to the Kings and tied a career-high of 41 points in the Kings' win on Tuesday over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Gay has a $19.317 million player option on his contract for the 14-15 season and is eligible to negotiate an extension.

Gay has a True Shooting Percentage of .617 during the month of January.

I wonder how much he can get on the open market. He's been phenomenal since moving to the Kings. Looks like he's going to do what Andre Iguodala did and opt in for more years rather than 1 big pay year.

Smart decision, IMO.

Yeah, athletic players like him want that long contract, not the payday. He'll probably settle for something in the 10-14m for a few years.
