NBA Rumors: Pacers want to trade for Kyle Lowry?
The Indiana Pacers currently own the best record in the NBA, but that doesn’t mean they’re not aiming to improve come the Feburary trade deadline.
The Pacers may be among the teams who will make a play for Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry at the Feb. 20 trade deadline, according to several reports. But the more the Raptors win, the more it looks as if they will hang on to Lowry. It’s an interesting situation, because Lowry is a free agent at season’s end.
But with Lowry’s pending free agency, more and more people seem to believe a move will eventually happen.
It’s not known what the Pacers are potentially offering up.
Likewise, Toronto might lose some leverage at the negotiating table for Lowry, who could end up being a second-half rental. But on the right championship contender, Lowry could be a huge difference maker. Joe Kaiser of ESPN (subscription required) listed the Indiana Pacers as the destination that makes the most sense for Lowry.
Lowry would certainly be an upgrade over current Pacers point guard George Hill, but what would Indiana be willing to give up? If the Raptors wanted a point guard in return, the Pacers have a couple of options in Hill and backup C.J. Watson.
