Unfortunately though, I expect more of the same for the most part. Those two have been buddies for a long time so it wouldn't be too far fetched to assume they likely share many of the same idealogies. Some may even think I'm going more extreme here with this, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Stern still held some influence even behind the scenes so to speak regardless of official position or not.

Oh no one should be surprised over that, I've heard sport radio shows here on North Texas joke about that.

Lakers could've had the best PG, SG, and C.

Bout time. Worst commissioner in NBA history by far. Probably in sports. No wonder no one likes to watch the NBA anymore.

No way he's worse than Bud Selig or bettman. And I'd still take him over Goodell.

He's done a lot for the NBA and basketball in general globally. Basketball is the second or third most popular team sport in the world nowadays depending on what source you look at, and in many countries is number one(China).

Basketball reasons was still BS but yeah

And that new commissioner still lives under the same CBA and was trained by David Stern.

No difference at all.

Worst commissioner in NBA history?  Not by a long shot.  Stern did a ton to make the NBA the international game it is now and made a lot of people a lot of money over his tenure.  He just should've hung it up a couple years ago that's all.  Approving a CBA that awards faulty management and punishes the good was a desperate move when it looked like the season was in jeopardy.  The league would've been better off losing the season and hammering out a more equitable agreement that would've helped more teams in the long run.

However, worst in NBA history? Nope, Not even close.

Lol. I'm no fan of David Stern and I personally am happy to see that he's no longer the head of the NBA, but there's no denying that he's the best commisioner the league has ever had and probably the best commisioner of all major sports (currently).

Don't ignore how he's changed the NBA just because he vetoed some trades. The man has done a lot for the game of basketball.

With that said, I hope nobody shows up to his retirement party because the son of a [expletive] played the biggest part in the current downfall of our franchise.

Other F'ups in his tenure...

That synthetic ball they tried a few years back forced on everyone--led to blisters on players hands

The official(s) rigging/betting games--(imo a much bigger controversy than nixing cp3)

Sleeved uni's

Always fining Cuban (love cuban)

Some draconian rules (players leaving bench etc)

Maybe a couple others as well.

But there is NO denying the value of teams has skyrocketed.

Players and owners got filthy rich.

A ton of amazing basketball during the past 30 years.

And i LOVED how he fined Pop $250,000 for holding out Parker, Manu, Duncan and Green v Miami last year.

Shoulda been more. Who among us wasn't looking forward to THAT game?

And Stern had one of my favorite lines ever when asked what his preferred finals matchup would be and he replied "The Lakers vs. The Lakers" (during showtime era iirc)

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick (Randle!) 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!...but the jury is out)

He's definitely been a great commissioner with regards to what he's done for the NBA as a global sport.

That being said, [expletive] him for that veto lol.

Lebron Wants To Meet With New Commish on How To Improve NBA

“It’s not a major change, but the game can always be bigger. There’s a lot of people who love the game who can’t watch the game, so hopefully we can (expand it).”

“The opportunities I’ve had to be around him as he’s been the assistant commish, he’s been easy to talk to,” James said. “He understands the business and someone who understands what the game means to everyone — the whole pie.

Stern's been good for the nba, but i'll never forgive him for that Veto. Also, his arrogance is starting to bug me as well - especially during the cba negotiations.

He actually talks at normal "not obviously reading the jokes" speed at 1.5 speed.  It's much funnier then :P
