Playing in L.A. offers more opportunity for off-court moneys.  Plus, don't under estimate the "Kobe factor".  Carmelo is both great friends with him and idolizes him.  What I hope is the Lakers do not max Carmelo out and realize that he is a sidekick for a championship, not the centerpiece.

If he accepts that then he already comes here with the proper mentality he'll need for us to get the most out of him with no drama.

I hope he can play at an extremely high level without injury to show the rest of the league that Kobe is still the man which encourages FA to come but with the line up of the lakers we end with worst winning percentage and land first round draft pick

If Kobe comes back to play this year, he will try to kill himself in a futile effort to get this team out of the lottery and into the playoffs.

If Kobe comes back to play this year, then we will win 30 total games as opposed to 25 if he doesn't.

If Kobe play lights out which a lot of people still have doubts, this team will be out of the lottery or maybe get the highest 10th pick in the draft. And you keep on talking about FA. What FA you speak of? The biggest FA that is going to be out there will be Melo and Lebron and we all know Lebron is not going anywhere.  Kobe doesnt need to prove to Melo since they are BFF. So what FA are you talking about here? Kevin Love who already said he wants to play here?  Lua Dang?  All this talk about this summer being a big FA summer is all media hype.

There's over 100 free agents this year some names being, deng others being Lowry, bosh, Zbo or even Bledsoe it's best to leave option open especially if we get a top 3 draft pick. Why not have Kobe show why LA is the place to be and that he still can lead or be on a championship team. Smh this year what do we have to lose.

Finish This Sentence: If Kobe comes back to play this year...

he would be acting irresponsible toward his rehabilitation and jeopardizing the final 2 seasons of his distinguished career.

If Kobe comes back to play this year, he will get injured again and it will put his career in jeopardy.

Then we'll continue to lose games while he adjusts but he'll be pushing the team in practice and morale will remain high when the leader returns.

I don't think Kobe will come back at all this season. Every time he gets close to playing again he will have another 'set back'. It will be the best thing for the team if he doesn't come back.

pushing the team in practice for what?  Morale remains high for what?  Do we all realized that we have a bunch of rent a players?  Only one dude will be here next year.  Maybe two with Nick Young contract.  Kobe is going to push them to play hard so they can showcase themselves to other teams who will pick them up?

I still see any reason why Kobe needs to come back.  Not a SINGLE reason.

Then you aren't thinking big picture.

In many ways Kobe has to return this year for a few games, to put together fully what he;s gonna be doing and working on this off-season.

If he took this entire season off, you can bet your bottom dollar he'll never be "Kobe" again.

Getting some games in and NOT missing an entire year of basketball is best for him right now, especially if you want him to play well for those final 2 years.

And why do you think only Nick Young is capable of being re-signed after this year?  Do you think Farmar, X, and Wes have played themselves into unpayable contracts?   We also own Hill's bird rights so we'll likely re-sign him.

thats fine but knowing Kobe he will play over his capability. He will forced his game to the limit when he doesnt need to.  He doesn't play half ass or going through the motions. In his delusional mind he think this is still a championship team when he is on the court so he will play hard. And because of it he will get injured again and probably in other parts.  Why wouldnt he take his time to rehab instead of rushing back so he can warmup for next season? There is this thing called summer league or preseason games. Heck we dont even know who the coach going to be next year (hopefully not MDA).  If the idea is for him to work on his game for the off season then he should come back for only one month before the season ends.  I dont want him to jeapordized our chances of getting a high pick.  Knowing Kobe, he cant stand losing and he will do whatever it takes to win every game.

And correct me if im wrong but didn't Nick young sign a two year deal so he will still be under contract?
