If Kobe comes back to play this year,  we will be the 10th or 9 seed and miss the playoffs while at the same time will miss a chance of having a very high draft pick.

Kobe will play out of his mind and will the team to have some wins but not good enough to make the playoffs. The worst spot the lakers can be at is mediocre at 10th or 9th seed.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

We'll still have a top 8 pick.

Kobe will return but it's going to take him a month to play at a high level.  We have terrible schedules for March and April so we are not going to win very much with him.

If Kobe comes back to play this year... it will take a few weeks for his intensity to return. We aren't going to the playoffs but we may find more entertainment through Kobe's determination.

The only thing I am looking forward to see if and when he comes back is  Kobe giving the look of death to MDA like he did to Mike Brown. Usually whenever he does that, the coach gets fired.

Then it will be interesting to see how his game continues to evolve and see what he starts excelling at so we know what kind of Kobe he's going to be next year.  As long as he remains healthy it will be fun to watch. Like when Ali changed his style to beat the young lions.

If Kobe play this year we will have the 13th in the draft. The highest probably be 10th.

Very insightful.

Though i get the feeling lakers may wait to blow their wad in 2015,not 2014.

Especially if Kobe comes back and can play at a high level, stay uninjured, and morph into a fulltime playmaking threat near 8 assists, and around 20-22 pts, Lakers may attract better available players.

The only way the Lakers bring Carmelo here imo is if he takes a paycut.

That's about it.

Then again, Melo if he wants to make the most money, he'll stay losing in New York for another 5 years.

It would be either Los Angeles or Chicago he'd be going to at that point.  And LA would likely offer him less than Chicago.. IF Chicago offered him the max which I doubt they would.  But we'll see.
