Boy I wish social media was what it is today when Kobe was doing stuff like this & on an even higher level back in the day.

What do you guys think though? Can he become the leading scorer in NBA history? Can he pass Kareem?

Thunder F Kevin Durant had 46 points Monday night against the Blazers. The First Take crew debates Durant's performance, likelihood of winning the MVP and his chances of becoming the leading scorer in NBA history.

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith breaks down Kevin Durant's MVP chances and potential to become the greatest scorer in NBA history.

As long as the refs continue to award KD 10+ free throws every night, he'll pass Kareems record by a pretty nice margin.

i wouldnt bet on it.  Longevity plays a huge role in this, and unfortunately freak injuries happen.  It's too early to tell.

Despite being heavily protected by the league with arguably the most touch fouls rewarded to, it's still pretty amazing he's remained as healthy as he has up to this point given his incredibly thin frame.

Don't worry.  If this "run" of his subsides as well as with Westbrook's return we'll stop hearing about it and the moment he comes up short again in the playoffs we'll hear it again and Skip will say he was right and Stephen A Smith will say he's disrespectful.

^ If they do, let's just hope it's not Kevin Ware or Shaun Livingston style.

Let's say he plays all 820 games in next 10 years, he would have to average 28.7 ppg during that stretch.

Not humanly possible.

He needs to outscore an entire team through 3 quarters or drop 82 points in a game before I think he's a better scorer than Kobe...

Everyone is so desperate for headlines and to be a part of history they will say anything.  Today's basketball "analysis" and media is just pitiful.

imo out of the guys in the league now, his career is one of several that will be the most entertaining to follow. Can't believe he was already youngest guy in league history to lead it in scoring.

Bron and KD are possible.

I think with Kobe's injury, we can scratch him after hoping he'd be the guy. Sadly.

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health (a special 20th season, like he deserves), 2. Draft Picks Ballin (they better. Seems half the team hasnt played in league) 3. Miracle Move (We still need 2 more impact guys, but Bass and Lou are solid moves), 4. Hibbert (trimming down, change of scenery and attitude sorely needed) 5. Upshaw (If he works out, mitch and jim and ryan deserve major kudos as the risk is minimal). Staples (some renewed energy in that building, been a total morgue last couple years)

I love Kevin but damn are they taking things way out of context. Stephen A didn't even have the decency to mention Kobe...or do you guys think it was intentional? He knew Skip would jump right at him had he mentioned Kobe.

RIP Dad. I miss you so very much...

That's the thing. Health.

I dont think Lebron will end up passing Kareem. I know he's a freak of nature, but it simply doesn't seem realistic that his body can keep holding up and since his biggest strength is his strength and speed, i could see Lebron's game declining rather rapidly.

Durant is another story, since he's lighter and a lot better shooter than Lebron. With Durants length and accuracy he could keep playing until he's 50, if his health holds up.

It'll be interesting to see what type of Kobe Bryant comes back and if he still has a chance at breaking Kareem's record.

His story is still far from over but it's not farfetched to think he could be the top guy in the end or very close to.  He's on a faster pace than anyone in post "big man inflated numbers" era

I wonder if Lebron is jealous of the KD attention, the media needs some new blood to pimp out every few years for headlines and attention...

Scoring numbers today are inflated similar to QB numbers in the NFL.
