Lakers Injury report:

Healthy bodies have been quite difficult to find on the court for the Lakers this season, and that trend continued at Wednesday’s session in Miami in which Mike D’Antoni didn’t have enough guys available to play 5-on-5.

Available (nine): Kendall Marshall, Jodie Meeks, Wesley Johnson, Ryan Kelly, Nick Young, Manny Harris, Jordan Hill, Robert Sacre, Chris Kaman

Unavailable (six): Pau Gasol (foot), Xavier Henry (knee), Jordan Farmar (hamstring), Steve Blake (elbow), Kobe Bryant (knee fracture), Steve Nash (nerve root irritation)

Gasol is the one player off the latter list who will play against the Heat on Thursday evening, as an open wound on his left foot won’t keep him out of game action, despite making it a bit painful to run, jump and cut.
Here’s the update on the Lakers who remain on the shelf:

I'm starting to really worry about Pau's inability to stay healthy, all these injuries out of nowhere and this one isn't a direct injury but an open wound.  But still, it feels like the guy can't go 3-4 games without something happening to him.  Perhaps he should consider retirement after this season before something worse happens.  His knees are already breaking down but after getting them worked on his injuries this year have been all either foot(or sick) related.   I'm guessing this could be another reason why Kobe told Pau he should try to lean up ala Duncan and put less weight on his legs and such.

It's not a different injury, it's the same toe injury.

For a throwaway season, it's still depressing.

If he can get paid by a team, he aint retiring lol.

Everything that was said at shoot around this morning was that it was his toe that kept him out of practice.  Kinda weird what the injury report makes note of something different.

I'm sure he feels more inclined to keep playing through these injuries not as much as to because how much he knows this team desperately needs him right now (the way he's been playing lately), or because of the massive criticism he's received from fans and some media when he has sat out, but mainly because he's trying to do what he can to impress the Lakers or anyone else enough for that next contract. That's the #1 goal & motivation in my opinion.

So many injuries around the NBA. But the Lakers have the worst like with that. I blame the zone rules for this! Bring back the old rules.

Different injury according to Trudell

  1. Gasol didn't practice today due to what he called an "open wound" on his toe resulting from a tape job he needs, but he'll start vs. MIA.

But in all fairness--Family first. Team 2nd. Pau, while disappointing many of us with his declining production over the past years, was and is a man many of us could rightly aspire to. Class act. Smart. Giving and kind. Doesn't trash the laker organization the way all of us have and do. He will do well post playing career.

This.

Praying for 1. Kobe's Health, 2. High Draft Pick!, 3. Miracle Trade (Not yet), 4. Quality Free Agent (Boozer, kind of), 5. Brilliant Coaching Hire (Byron!)

So is Pau still making excuses? He's playing great and he's still hurt.
