I'm guessing they'd probably bring him along pretty slowly.

^^^ I didn't mean if he was out on the floor even though that is still a question if he can stay out there. I meant if his head was gonna be in the game. Having him as a back up is fine, but having him be committed makes them deadly. Funny thing is if he was committed he would give Hibbert a run for his money as a starter, but we all know that wont happen.

It seems odd that the Pacers suddenly started talking seriously to Bynum again (or at least by these reports coming out) just around the time David Stern left. Just sayin'.

I doubt they'd need to bring him along slowly, he was starting to play 25 mins a game before Cleveland 'quiet' him for talking about Kyrie's lack of passing.

^ He may be in good enough shape not to have to be brought along slowly, but the system is an entirely whole other thing. It'll take some time to adjust and learn something new & be comfortable enough to earn the trust of the coaching staff to play significant minutes.

I guess the benefit is that the Pacers really don't set plays for their bigs.  So if Bynum was out there with the bench unit all he'd likely have to do is post up if he wants the ball.  That's all hibbert has to do.

Offensively there wouldn't be too much outside of the basics that he'd really need 'too much' time to adjust to.  NBA speed not withstanding which you have a point on of course.

But in general I think he'd probably be able to fit in just fine offensively.  It's what they'd ask him to do defensively that would be the question mark.

If he makes it to the end of the season the Pacers are a heavy favorite.

Now let's assume the Pacers do some piece moving at the draft deadline and land a better backup point guard, like let's say the Kings decide to tank further and they land Isaiah Thomas(not gonna happen), or taking Jarrett Jack from Cleveland.  Then they become the favorites.

Because Indiana's most glaring weakness is their backup 1 and backup 5.  If they get Bynum they only have one spot to take care of which can be improved at the trade deadline.

oh wow.. what if THEY landed Lowry....

I would absolutely love that. Lowry would fit in great in my opinion. He plays defense better than most point guards, which Frank V. would love, can create his own shot, is clutch (can be trusted in the 4th not to back down & widdle under pressure more often than not), can get a reasonable amount of assists, makes his free throws, and can hit the 3. Even Andre Miller I wouldn't mind seeing there, but of course preferably Lowry (much younger & more dynamic).

I think the Heat missed out here, this is luxury and insurance move for Indiana, Miami whether bored or not currently even in the playoffs struggle against bigger stronger teams. If Indiana gets a legit PG, then damn.

Why not? Sick of seeing LeBron get rewarded for taking the easy way out & hearing nonstop coverage & mention of him even in the offseason by his babysitter network ESPN.

Then you also have a very likeable dude in Paul George, who is easy as heck to root for for several reasons & just that whole Pacers team. Their respectable blue collar-like approach. Not the easy teaming up way of the Heat with all the hype, attention, as well as floppers. Don't get me wrong, Indiana's not completely innocent on that either (see especially LeBron vs David West flop gif), but they're not half as bad as Miami (LeBron, Wade, Chalmers, Battier, etc).

Pacers should just focus more on getting lowry. They have a perfect team right now. Why bring a guy who obviously can cause problems in the locker room.

Because Bynum won't have the role to cause trouble.   He didn't cause locker room trouble in Philly and the only trouble he caused in Cleveland was saying about Kyrie what everyone else on that team wants to say but only two have spoken out about(and were subsequently buried in the media and silenced) about.

Still not seeing how Bynum helps the Heat.  Slows them down, doesn't fit their hustle D scheme and doesn't do anything very good but 1 on 1 post offense.  At least Oden will do the little things.  He's an upgrade over Mahimi though.
