"I'm always looking for ways up until the trade deadline to do what's best for the team for that year or what's best for the team going forward," Kupchak said. "That obviously depends on the team you have and what the record is. Some years you're looking to forge up an area that you may have a weakness on a championship roster and then some years it may be different where you're looking a little bit beyond that year towards the next year. So, that's kind of where we are right now."

Typical PR. He's still shopping him.

"I'm always looking for ways up until the trade deadline to do what's best for the team for that year, which is trading Pau immediately or what's best for the team going forward, which is tanking," Kupchak said. "That obviously depends on how bad we suck. Some years you're looking to forge up an area that you may have a weakness on a championship roster and then some years, like this one, it may be different where you're looking to tank in order to win the lottery. So, that's kind of where we are right now. Tanking."

He basically admitted this year is a wash.  Applaud him.

why?

He didn't in the start of the season when everyone who wanted to tank and such wanted him to.

Obviously at this point, it's a wash.

Sorry if I made it seem that way, but ESPN's link has the whole interview where he touches on a lot of things. I started it off with Pau to attract readers :D.

I read the article as i like the writing of dave mc.

But i swear Mitch coulda said "we're just putting lipstick on this pig right now" and it would be more accurate.

Mitch is basically saying they'll trade gasol for the right deal.  We know they want draft picks and an asset for him.

I wouldn't "quote" Kupchak as saying "tanking," but I can see the interpretation.

They really need to change the lottery system somehow. The NBA is rewarding teams for losing. Fans rooting for their team to lose... that's messed up.

Check out attendance at these teams arenas. Its pathetic. losing teams mostly have anemic seat sales. I mean, I watch league pass and can't believe some of the game deals some teams are offering fans to get them in the arena. Clippers used to offer 2 for 1 season tix when EB was the main guy.
