After searching the web for an ESPN article at least reporting something like this I haven't found anything.  Anyone else find luck finding anything related to this news?

Nope, I'd argue he never was.  Was a great player but he's pushing 30 and hasn't looked "great" since a good streak late after the Nets trade.

Do you think Williams isn't going to play elite when he comes back?

Makes less than Pau Gasol and he's twice the player.

Big difference. Pau has an expiring contract whereas Deron's contract expires in 2017/18. I would have done the deal if Pau had 2-3 years left on his contract, but that's not the case. Signing Williams means we can't get Melo or more importantly, Love.

Than what are Lakers gonna go for next 2 years?  Lakers own fault they put themselves in this position by giving Kobe they big of contract to begin with.  No matter what Lakers do from now on they can't sign a star or even what you guys call an asset?  If Carmelo is a star in your own eyes so is Deron Williams.

Lakers: Hello Nets, is D-Will available?

Nets: Probably not but anything is possible. Who do you have to offer?

Williams isn't worth 21m+. He's on the wrong side of 30. He can barely play three games without getting an ankle injury. If we were to pursue Melo, he'd come cheaper than Williams. And although he's on the wrong side of 30, at least he can suit up for games.

As bad as the Nets are right now please they got any reasons to but hang up the phone.  They traded most of their drafts picks all away for KG and Pierce.  Nobody else from the starting 5 and bench is a trade valuable asset beside Deron Williams and Brook Lopez and nobody at the moment wants Brook cause he's out for this year and far as injuries you probably get pennies on the dollar for Brook cause this the 2nd time he has broken his foot now and needed surgery on the same foot leaving Deron Williams the only thing to trade. And if that means as one of the option to at least cut some salary down Brooklyn will be listening

Really Carmelo will come cheaper. I'd like to hear that explanation since all reports have indicated Carmelo will be looking for nothing but the max this off season LOL

Neither Melo or D Will is worth locking your cap up over for the next 3 years for.  Not sure why guys keep arguing for them.

I don't think we can offer Melo a max and he's not worth it quite frankly. I believe our main goal is this:

1) Unintentionally tank and obtain a top 5 pick

2) Pursue Deng (versatile player/defender) for cheap in the offseason

3) Go for Love the following offseason

Deron Williams was one of my favorite point guards to watch and during his days with the Jazz and prior to his injuries I ranked him as the top point alongside CP3. However, his health is clearly an ongoing issue and that horrendous contract (expires 16-17) only adds more fuel to the fire. Develop Kendall Marshell and other young pieces and seek other viable options in free agency would be a much better option.
