Assuming all of our point guards come back, how do you see the new depth chart? I don't see Nash playing next year. If he comes back, it'll be this year to finish his basketball career on good terms.
Farmar's hamstring injury worries me. I hope it doesn't begin to become a recurrent problem. I'd like for Farmar to stay since he's our most athletic and fastest PG as well as being our best defender at the position. Also, he's able to create his own shot and his chemistry with Young and the bench was superb.
Between Blake and Marshall, I don't know yet. Blake's obviously better offensively with his threes and he can be a pesky defender. He also has playoff experience. Problem is, he's 33 and has been injury prone. Marshall has been dishing out assists, but he's also played heavy minutes being our only legit PG. But when you factor in how little time he has spent with the team, he seems like the better facilitator. And he can be our future (not exactly starter) PG considering he's only 22.
I think this team needs one more athletic PG that can defend. Bledsoe would be perfect, but it will be nearly impossible to attain him since the Suns will match any offer.
Marshall is a guy we definitely need to spend time on and keep developing, all he really needs is a jump shot, I have no problem having a guy like him even starting.
Farmar I'd like to stay as well off the bench. It at least takes care of a position in the off-season. Marshall has everything but the consistent jump shot, but we got him for two years and should use him and develop him.
When Nash comes back I gather he'll come off the bench, Blake will probably go back to the starting lineup.
As far as next year goes, if Marshall keeps improving or keeps playing well I can see us letting Blake walk if he wants too much money, other than that Blake would be a nice third option 'just in case' with our point guards with Marshall and Farmar being starting and bench pg.
Now is the time to really start developing guys we want here for the next two seasons which is where Mitch is going to subsequently make his championship run. So spending time developing Sacre and Kelly and Marshall is vital going forward. Williams and Kaman to me are like placeholders till guys develop. Sacre has developed nicely so thus Kaman won't play. Kelly is still getting there but once he does, Williams won't play.
It's quite a scenario because as well as Blake has played and how badly I want Nash to finish the season strong I don't want to compromise Marshall's development.
