Lakers are gonna' need to eventually find another Hispanic/Latino player to fill the void for the huge Spanish market of Laker fans as well as Time Warner Cable Deportes. Pau was excelling fantastically in that role for quite some time. Really did big things for the Lakers business-wise in that aspect. Now, if he ultimately leaves, there will definitely be a big void there financially as well.

Who would be at least one Hispanic/Latino player you'd like to see on the Lakers that we could maybe eventually and more importantly, realistically get?

I actually don't think it's going to make that big of a difference.

If I recall correctly, weren't the Lakers doing successful broadcast in Espanol way before Pau got here? I imagine that will continue without Pau. Too many Laker fanatics in Los Angeles that speak Spanish primarily for the loss of one player to ruin what Francisco and them are doing.

^ I didn't intend to mean it will suddenly fail completely as what you pointed out is correct and it was successful even before Pau, however, there's no doubt in my mind, since Pau's arrival, it only elevated that much more having a Spanish speaking player for our team. I'm curious to whether the fo will have that in mind going forward when they look for more personnel moves or signings in the near or distant future.

A little bit OT, but I do remember Pau saying in one interview or another that he loved the spanish speaking communites of LA.

As for your actual post, I think LA is going to continue to sign who can help the team, regardless of what language they speak. If they get another star that speaks Spanish, I'm sure they'll gladly cash in on TWC Deportes like they did with Pau lol. But I don't think they would go out of their way.

Damn. I had totally forgotten' all about that, but now I do remember having seen that game and that moment quite vividly. That was brutal. Though I do not remember what JCN did to piss him off that much, lol.

I don't think it'll make much of a difference.

Pau is not a fan favorite right now. He's been booed on multiple occasions this season. He wont hurt ratings at all. Lakers playing badly is what will hurt ratings.

Ive never really heard of people other than people from Spain(who I dont think can even get TWC) who are pau fans rather than laker fans. Laker fans are fans of pau because he's a laker. Not vice versa.

I'm "Hispanic" , and it doesn't matter to me at all. Will white people quit watching basketball if there are no white people on the team? No

Pau is from Spain so it's a bit different. If he was a Mexican American or born and bred in Mexico, there could potentially be financial implications. But I doubt it even in those circumstances.

Kobe sells more jerseys than Pau in Spain.
There will be a drop, but nothing important.
