The MVP should be done away with IMO.  It's too media and narrative driven.  When Kobe was putting up those crazy numbers this was after the rape case and during the midst of them rebuilding and not being good.  That whole time the narrative was that he couldnt win w/o Shaq and for some time this was true.  So he was penalized for it.  The year Derrick Rose won they just didn't want to give it to Lebron and D12 had an outstanding year as well.  Kobe missed out on his due to not defeating the narrative at the time and Lebron/Howard lost out on it b/c of voters exhaustion and Rose being the "humble hometown kid".

When you have certain guys putting up those type of numbers its hard to get excited again.  This year it took Russ getting injured for KD to be forced into a bigger role on the team to get the necessary numbers to beat Lebron during a period where they considered him in a slump.  A slump where he was averaging something like 25/6/6 or something.

Didnt the lakers stink this year?

Cant give an mvp to a player on a team that isnt good imo.

He still kept them in contention.. his roster was absolutely horrendous. That's an mvp to me.. not a superstar on a stacked team

Pretty sure this suggestion won't gain any traction.

Be happy disagreeing with who they choose.

DO NOT do away with the award

I think the best options is a player and/or coaching voting system. Even though every human has their personal biases I'd take the opinions of the guys in the battlefield over guys who are looking for storylines. I'm pretty sure Kobe ends up with more than one MVP award in his career if it were that way

The MVP vote should be stripped from sports writers and given back to the NBA players.

Who knows better who's ballin then their own peers.

I know the exact shopping center where this was taken. Up the street from KBs house.

I have a sense that Kobe Bryant will surprised a lot of people even all you laker fans on here of how he will play next season.  Everybody is putting dirt on him.  I am the only fan in the world that still believe Kobe will play like Kobe Bryant of old.  He will evolved!  He will make people scratch their heads.

MDA is an offensive genius. I hope he sticks to his guns and keeps doing what he does best: Run and Gun. That's the only way to coach.

According to Stephen A Smith Kobe has been bringing in some of the players on his team to the facilities every morning and has them working out and working on their game at 7 am every day.

I'm going to guess that it's Nick Young, Wes Johnson and Julius Randle.    Ed Davis has been in there a lot too.  But that's good news.  Very good news.
