Chauncey was a legit pg. top 10 easy.

Definitely. From 2005 to like 2008 he played some really great ball.

There weren't as many great PG's back then, but Billups got it done.

You mean the Pistons that could have drafted Carmelo Anthony?

Billups has said to this day, that them passing on Carmelo cost that team their dynasty.

yes the same Pistons.  Them beating us has nothing to do with the fact they still could have drafted Carmelo and that's why they only have one championship.

Their one and done could have been a dynasty if not for that one botched front office decision.  Billups has stated this ihho.    Because not only did they pass up on Melo, they passed up on Wade and Bosh, for Darko.  So yeah.

Is it? You willing to put championship hopes in a 19 year old rookie? He's too young to be thinking about him being our defensive anchor.  If we get Embiid I still don't want Melo near this team.

he saying replacing melo. so basically switch out melo for rondo or whoever. lol. thats what i mean by no player makes that knicks team better.

and if we somehow get joel embiid and that defensive center spot is filled ;)

That's the thing.

Billups would have a better resume and probably 3 -4 rings to his name and people wouldn't be able to say things like "Billups wasn't a top point guard in his day"

um....yes he was X_X    The organization just screwed them out of a dynasty lineup.

I'm not disagreeing with that but to say b/c they didn't draft Melo they robbed themselves of a dynasty?  That's nonsense.  Melo's best team in 09 was as good as that team talent wise and he was in his prime.  Majesty just has a hard on for Melo b/c Kobe likes him.  Melo isn't even an elite player.  Plenty of guys can score that actually contribute in other ways.  Melo rebounds well but outside of that he's a liability on the floor.

Yeah "plenty of guys can score"

But how many can lead the league in scoring?

Oh really?!  Would that scoring have covered up the awful defense and lack of playmaking and ball movement?  Pistons didn't need Melo for anything.  They beat the Lakers and lost to the Spurs in 7 the very next year.  They didn't need some young dude posting up on the elbow calling for the ball and giving a bad effort on D.

You have the worst reading comprehension by far on this board.  Read the full statement. " Plenty of guys can score that actually contribute in other ways".  Btw, leading the league in scoring means nothing when you aren't winning.  The last time a team won with the scoring champion was Shaq 14 years ago I believe.

Yeah "plenty of guys can score"

pistons were best defensive team in the league the year before. im pretty sure they didn't need anymore defensive players

especially with ben and rasheed destroying everyone in the paint.

A lot of that had to do with Tayshaun Prince guarding premier scoring wings as well...Melo would have been a hole in their scheme.  Everything isn't about pure talent when winning championships.  Those Pistons teams were better off with Prince than Melo.  Now if you want to make the argument that Melo would have benefited them after that team got older then sure, but Melo in his rookie and 2nd seasons wouldn't have made them a dynasty at all.
